    Alienware engraving question

    So I have a m11x r1 with my name on it, or rather amd098 on it

    I might sell the r1 to my friend, and buy a m14x, he would want it to have his name on it though, is it possible to just switch the name plates?

    I figure if they are the same size, then it would be ok, but if it wont fit, then its an issue.

    mine came from the outlet store, so there is no engraving on the plate. would alienware engrave it for me if i had to send it back for a performance issue with my m14?

    My m17x R3 from the outlet had no plate, so I called Alienware support not Dell and they are engraving a new plate with my name on it. Woot. :eek:

    Do most people get theirs engraved? I was wondering if this would be a problem in the future if you wanted to resell it...

    i believe most people do unless ordering from the outlet store. in which case it comes with a standard blank plate. however, the plate is removable and if it bothered a person that much, they could just take it off.

    Hmmm, so who ever is getting a refurb, it looks like dell does not do anything with the plate. If it was a personalized plate and the original owner pulls it dell just sends it out without a generic plate? Interesting.
