No factory in Canada, Local repair Depot in Toronto area, and a Dell Factory Outlet in Canada, and sales team in Canada, but that's it.

Xavier, your probably in the same boat I am. Ordered on the 7th, EDD the 28th but still not reporting shipped. Called this morning and was told that there was some sort of delay and it didn't look like I would get it by the EDD. She said she would have to get a hold of someone else and get more information and they would keep me informed.

Since it takes 5 - 7 business days to ship I'm probably looking at closer to 4 weeks then 3 to get the laptop, I plan to call them Friday and if they can't give any solid info I'll cancel the order and pick up an Asus. I had a hard enough time waiting 3 weeks but convinced myself it would be worth it but if after 3 weeks I don't have the unit and they can't tell me why there is a delay or how long the delay will be, well I'm not going to sit in limbo for another 2-3 weeks, unless they make it worth my while then I may consider it.

I'm sure some kind of assembly happens in the U.S. The units are probably assembled in China (or Malaysia) as barebones units (no CPU, HDD, GPU, RAM, BT, WLAN), then customized in the U.S. I can't verify this, but it makes sense.

It doesn't make sense, labour cost in the US is much much higher.
Besides I tracked mine every day when it was sent for delivery and it went from China-Korea-Kazachstan-Poland-Germany-Belgium-Me. So it didn't even enter the US. I know it would be cooler if they were US made, but the fact is they are not. At this point in time, they are made in China.

when you see a pc right now, don't even bother to ask. almost every computer is assembled in China or Taiwan. The only exception may be Fujitsu? They are famous for the Jap made quality. The situation may change in the future as labour cost are rising in China. 10 yrs later, you may find more computers made in Vietnam or India.

Min went to Tennessee also, but I think that was for final packaging, manuals, accessories, etc. I live in the US (Ohio). I believe different countries have their own final packaging facilities. Ithink the complete laptop build is done in China, however.

i am sure these laptops are made in china just like every other dell product.
(I dont think Dell has any assembly lines in the US (maybe even in the world?), they out source everything, part of there business model)

but if you want to tell me that the final packing in certain situations (keyboard, manual language) is done somewhere else i could believe that. but its even possible that they are all shipped from china ready to be delivered to you.
