I ordered from Dell.ca and I'd like to know if alienware are still built in texas or there is a factory in Canada??
-
No factory in Canada, Local repair Depot in Toronto area, and a Dell Factory Outlet in Canada, and sales team in Canada, but that's it.
-
ok cause my EDD is thursday and it's not even shipped yet (or website is not updated) .... I'll probably have to wait another week
-
Xavier, your probably in the same boat I am. Ordered on the 7th, EDD the 28th but still not reporting shipped. Called this morning and was told that there was some sort of delay and it didn't look like I would get it by the EDD. She said she would have to get a hold of someone else and get more information and they would keep me informed.
Since it takes 5 - 7 business days to ship I'm probably looking at closer to 4 weeks then 3 to get the laptop, I plan to call them Friday and if they can't give any solid info I'll cancel the order and pick up an Asus. I had a hard enough time waiting 3 weeks but convinced myself it would be worth it but if after 3 weeks I don't have the unit and they can't tell me why there is a delay or how long the delay will be, well I'm not going to sit in limbo for another 2-3 weeks, unless they make it worth my while then I may consider it. -
I believe they are manufactured by Compal in China, then shipped to Texas(?) for further work/boxing/etc
My r3 says made in china -
they are All made in China
-
hey jpom, if you can get more info, I'd like it if you could post !! thanks
By the way, mine is an R2 and there is no Sandy bridge -
R2 here as well, if I find out anything I will be sure to let you know.
-
I got an email from Dell, my order has been delayed... It says it will ship by next tuesday.. !!
-
The parts are made in china, but they are assembled at a dell facility in Tennesse.
-
I heard it was in Texas ??? maybe I'm wrong
-
They have there world headquarters in round rock, texas.
-
oh ok .. so Tenesse-Canada shipping should be faster.. nice
-
My M17x was labeled as made in Malaysia
-
no way that they are assembled in the US, All R2's are made in china, malaysia sounds possible too (if it's an R1)
-
I'm sure some kind of assembly happens in the U.S. The units are probably assembled in China (or Malaysia) as barebones units (no CPU, HDD, GPU, RAM, BT, WLAN), then customized in the U.S. I can't verify this, but it makes sense.
-
Besides I tracked mine every day when it was sent for delivery and it went from China-Korea-Kazachstan-Poland-Germany-Belgium-Me. So it didn't even enter the US. I know it would be cooler if they were US made, but the fact is they are not. At this point in time, they are made in China. -
-
Some are assembled in the US. I know mine was assembled at dells factory in Tennessee.
-
Min went to Tennessee also, but I think that was for final packaging, manuals, accessories, etc. I live in the US (Ohio). I believe different countries have their own final packaging facilities. Ithink the complete laptop build is done in China, however.
-
(I dont think Dell has any assembly lines in the US (maybe even in the world?), they out source everything, part of there business model)
but if you want to tell me that the final packing in certain situations (keyboard, manual language) is done somewhere else i could believe that. but its even possible that they are all shipped from china ready to be delivered to you. -
Come to think of it...I think the manual is printed in the USA! woo hoo!
