    An amazing deal.

    Intel® Core(tm) 2 Quad Processor Q9000
    4GB DDR3 SDRAM
    500GB Hard Drive
    Blu-ray/CD/DVD Combo Drive
    8-in-1 Media Card Reader
    Dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M
    10/100/1000 Network
Internal Wireless a/g/draft-n with MIMO (2x2) Technology)
    Bluetooth® 2.1 + EDR
    17" Widescreen UXGA Display
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit)
    1920x1200 widescreen!

    All for $2380 (With tax).

Now if you put the same specs in with dell, it comes out to around $2700 (Without tax/shipping).

Now your saving around $400-$600. I just walked in the store and bought one, and I must say no flaws whatsoever. I had a battery problem, but got it fixed ( It had static or something on it, so I had to hold the power button).

I overclocked my q9000 to 2.4 ghz and temperatures are running solid! (Around 40-50 degrees)

It comes with everything the dell version comes with and also comes with a 1 year standard warranty
This is one amazing laptop and one AMAZING DEAL!

The only downside to this type of purchase is the warranty. Granted you have 1 year, but if you need service you cannot call up Dell. If you do, they will direct you to contact MicroCenter (or the retailer you purchased from). When taking it back to the retailer, they will have it sent to the Dell Repair Depot.

At least this is how it has worked in the past with other Dell units... same for BestBuy. Costco may be different, not sure. Regardless, thanks for posting the info str4ktt.

Yes you can call dell. Basically, I called them today about my battery. The warranty is a "1 year manufacturer's warranty". You can transfer the warranty to your name by visiting dells website.

Interesting - thanks for the update. A family member bought a Studio 15 from Dell earlier this year from BestBuy. He's stuck with the FreakSquad for warranty repairs. I'll pass this on and see if it applies to his laptop as well.

Old news. There are other active posts about the Microcenter deal. Got mine through them online on Tuesday and it's arriving Friday. All in all, when most people vendor these, they say they have them, Microcenter actually does and they're ready to be shipped the same day. It's a great price for what you get. End of story. Even the 7% discount from Dell in July couldn't match this price.

But if possible I would've got a 2.8 duo (it's the same price as the 2.0 quad on Dell), best bang for the buck and they can OC pretty high I'm assuming. I'm with Moo on the Quad vs Duo thing, being that I most likely won't be using all four processors.

Although, despite that, it's still a fantastic build for $450 dollars less and lightning fast shipping.

Eh? I'd say the July e-value code could easily match this... it was $350 cheaper+7% off. But that's all in the past.

Hmmm, well I remember seeing some sick deals in July. Not to mention the extra heckling people did to lower the price.

the july e-value code won...thus my laptop (that was e-value and 7% EPP) (only like $80 difference between my sig with q9000 and microcenter hehe)

hmmm...anyone know of a store in Ontario that would be selling the M17x? I talked to a sale rep in futureshop today, and he told me that they should have one in a few weeks, before September.

    Thanks

I would just order it man, you get the config you want and the excitement of checking the order status every day! If you order it now it should be here by the end of the month.

Oh for sure, I just wanted to see and feel it for myself before I take the plunge. Most Stores, including future shop, will be selling the quad core setup which I do not need.

    airplaneman,

How long did take for the laptop to get to your front porch from the moment you ordered it?

Also, did you get any discounts?

Ahh fair enough. It is a risk spending $2000+ on something without actually using it.

I ordered mine June 10th and it got here July 10th, but that was pretty early on. I think they are taking 2-3 weeks now depending on the configuration you want. The WUXGA screen apparently extends the process quite a bit because of Dell/Alienware's lack of stock.

I guess $2380 was the total price IF you picked it up personally from the store, right?
When I called Texas micro center last night, the total price was $2500+, that includes sales tax and shipping..

So I went to DELL instead..

    My config is
    Q900
    250gb HD
    Dual 260m
    WUXGA
    +Orion backpack

all for $2500..including tax and free shipping

it's a good thing I mentioned the Microcenter deal..
He based my discounts on that..

*Pfft* with the missing 250gb, I get the custom plate with my name on it anyway... :)

Well it's $2380 including tax from the online store, it ships same day. Did you get Bluray?

    shoot.. $2380 free shipping?
How come he didn't offer that option to me...

I did get blu-ray, forgot to mention. :)

Let's see, if you did get free shipping, I paid $120 more to have a smaller hard drive, a custom made plate, an orion bag, and 9/22 EDT..
    aaw..
I guess the nameplate's more valuable to me at this moment :D
I won't be buying a laptop for the next 80years.
    ...
    yeah, I wont.
