The first 5 phases of progress flew by and now it has been stuck in Phase 6 (integration phase) for four days now. I sent them an email and got some generic response saying they were putting it through quality testing. I don't think it typically takes this long to test a notebook.

Alienware better hurry up and ship it because after reading all the posts on here I am highly tempted to cancel my order. It seems like it is a great notebook when it is working and is Alienware cool, but it seems there are a variety problems.

Anyways, this is my first purchase with AW, so some of you more experienced AW folks might be able to give me a better understanding of why it is taking so long in this stage. It shouldn't take 4 days to install the OS, supporting applications, and test it! Today was the expected ship date of the notebook, guess I can forget about that happening!

website has always been wierd with phases. I would call them to get the details from a human. Their call center is nice, you get someone on the phone rather quickly.

in my experience, it took a while for me too and exceeded expected ship date. Well i don't hold them to that date unless they say "ship date" or "guaranteed shiipping by *date here*" kind of thing.

In my opinion, others may have a different opinion, the longer they do quality testing, the better. It means they are really working at it and not rushing it at all. better to have a quality checkup than a rushed mediocre check just to ship it out by the expected ship date.

Good luck! you're goin to love your lappy.

Actually, especially since you said you've read all the posts in here, you might be delighted to hear that Alienware is testing your system so thoroughly. :p I believe it will be worth it, so hang in there.

I actually did think of that... What I thought is they might have found something jacked up and thats why it is taking so long. My hinge might have already busted or something. LOL

all i can say is lucky you :)
i was on phase 5 for 24 days so beat that

as ennea stated, if you would rather it was rushed through without all the checks then give them a call.

the phase page is totally buggered and has been for months so dont rely on that.

My order was delayed for a month, because they were "testing" my laptop and looking for any flaws. Obviously a month of testing wasn't enough, because I am already sending it back for repairs.

Ricky's was one of the very early m15x's, if I recall correctly (Received in March). There's been some new batch rumor that supposedly fixes the hinge problem but Alienware hasn't officially backed yet. Things have been looking good for us recent buyers though. I received mine in July, after 3 months no major problems and no sign of any.

Considering some of the long wait-times I've seen around here, I'm tempted to simply reply to this board with only a "WAHHHHH!!!" but I thought that would be a bit harsh/offensive.

What I'm really trying to say is: estimated shipping dates are just that, estimates. **** happens.

    sorry about your luck.

I think I am going to just STFU and wait... I did get the lighting kit as well as the clearview screen. I want them to do it right and not rush it...

I am such a creature of instant gratification though, lol.

It's okay. You're paying serious cash for a premium laptop, your reaction is very normal, I would say. The day after I ordered my m15x, I was on a cruise. Were I not on such an enjoyable experience, I might've reacted just the same way. So, don't worry about it. If you don't run into any major issues, then you have very good reason to be excited. :)

I don't know if I can wait that long, lol. Wow that is really crazy. I guess they put them through some serious testing. They really should adjust their expected shipping thing to six weeks from time of purchase. I have noticed that most people receive it between four and six weeks.

I just checked the status of my notebook again and it is now in Phase 8 (Quality Control / Shipping Prep). YAY!!!

It has been in Phase 6 (Integration) for over a week and this morning it moved up two phases. So I am assuming that it is almost done and should be shipping either today or tomorrow if there aren't any issues.

I am soo exicted and ready to receive this thing!!!
