Yep, I restarted it. Will turning off the lights help? Also, I'm using an external monitor (32" HD LCD TV through HDMI), would that cause lag?

Sorry I wasn't able to edit my previous post before you responded. I edited it while you were typing that last response. -
How do I add those two other registry files? And why aren't they already there?
Actually, it turns out that it was the external monitor..who knew. Which leads me to the next question...what is the problem of that; and how could I fix it? -
It was a hypothetical statement. If you were getting some kind of keyboard lag from using an external monitor, you would experience lag between every letter typed, not just from repeated letters. It doesn't necessarily mean you have it.
The keyboard lag we are talking about is if you were typing repeated letters (like the two o's in google, it'd sometimes type miss the second "o" and type in gogle instead.) Is this what you are experiencing?
As for your registry files, I'm quite interested to know how you don't have it. I'll look into it when I have the time. -
I'm just having typing lag in general. I normally type respectively fast...and with this lag, it limits me to say..15-20 words a minute or something slow...so it has something to do with the monitor, and I'm at a loss..
Thanks for your help! -
Even though I've never personally experienced that problem before, I can look into that issue for you. I'll PM you if I can find anything (unless someone here can beat me first to it and explain what's going on.)
-
Oceanus, the fix you posted works amazingly for me, i haven't experienced any keyboard lag yet (and i type 120+ wpm)!
Thanks man, and good job -
I'm going to need a little more feedback. Has anyone else tried the workaround I have suggested yet?

I'm sorry to say that the lag is there and just as bad. Some restrictions apply. I have not been able to reproduce the lag at idle, but it is very easy to replicate with any sort of multitasking that is taking up some amount of resources and especially gpu related ones. -
That's so strange because it is amazing for me...

I'd just like to report that I just reinstalled Vista (new hard drive - old one died) and did this fix, and it worked again for me.. No keyboard lag again.
-
-
Yea.. I have to reformat again... uh.. I'm choosing to reformat again cause I want to do some things differently..
And I'll test it again and report back.. -
Thanks Astro. Will look forward to hearing from you.
-
It worked once again, as expected.
-
I just reformatted yet again (man I do this too much).. this time with Vista x64 Business (was using 32 bit before).. This fix worked on x64 too...
-
Cool. Glad to hear that.
-
Oceanus you are the mother f-ing man!
I'm running my m15x with factory installed Vista x64 and the keyboard lag was driving me INSANE!!! For an almost 3,000 dollar laptop to have little problems like keyboard lag is absolutely ridiculous.
Anyways your fix suggestion has totally worked for me. I've run through the gauntlet of "apple's" and "google's" and backspacing and all is working superb.
Thanks for the assistance!
Now if I can only get my aliensense to start working again, stupid "License key is invalid" message and tech support has been NO help! -
Also, unless you've already fixed the "License Key is Invalid" issue for the Command Center, I suggest you try downloading the updated version(s) of the Command Center which could be found in the mini-MyHive here at NBR.
If you're using x64 bit Vista, see: Command Center v. 1033 (Vista x64).
If you're using x32 bit Vista/XP, see: Command Center v. 1028 (x32). -
Well even though your mod is just a workaround in your eyes it's served as a resolution to an issue in my eyes. The lag hasn't returned yet so I'm sticking to my story
The license key is invalid was resolved with the new command center you're correct. -
Hello everyone,
I was also having some keyboard lag and stumbled upon this thread. I tried Oceanus' method and so far it seems to have resolved this annoying problem. I am also running vista x64.
Thank you so much. -

Hi FirecatF7,
I received my m15x on Jan 2009, but my hinge busted in only 2 weeks of use. I was able to get alot of help here and Roswell Kevin really speeded up the process with getting my notebook fixed. I mailed her back to Alienware's Service Facility in Houston, TX about 3-4 weeks ago and just got her back a few days ago. I've just been setting her back up these last few days. Thanks for asking. -
I just ordered my m15x and I'm wondering if it wasn't the best idea?
I have an Alienware desktop, and it has served me well. -
Hey Firecat,
My hinge busted due to the normal activity of opening and closing the lid. There was no abnormal stress at all. One day it just popped (when I opened the lid) and pieces of plastic were scattered all over the place. When I first got the laptop, It did feel like something would break when I opened the lid. There was ALOT of resistance and creaking. Be careful with yours and if you notice anything like that, be on the lookout.
*HOWEVER*
I wouldn't be too worried about the issue because you have the 1 year warranty regardless (unless you extended it) and they will fix it. My hinge feels more solid, but this seems to be a design flaw and I yes, I am worried it may bust again. But this is a notebook, so I will continue to use it as such.
We have a very unique and powerful notebook and I am very content with my purchase. I'm sure you will feel the same when you get yours. CHEERS! -
you should try wd-40 lol
pshh m15x owners ...lol jp
