    Im planning buying an Alienware m15x Notebook but
    im confused on what processor is the best for an 8800M GTX:
    • Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1GHz (3MB Cache 800MHz FSB)
    • Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4GHz (3MB Cache 800MHz FSB)
    • Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5GHz (6MB Cache 800MHz FSB)
    Do you think that the lowest one (T8100) will corporate with the 8800M GTX well ???
    Is there any difference buying the T8300 instead of the T8100 in games ???
    Will those extra 3MB Cache get me 5fps more in Crysis or what ???

    I have exactly the money that i need to buy it with an T8100 so what do you think?
    will it worth upgrading to an other Proccesor or i will just stay with the T8100?

    Those are the Specs:
    • 512MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800M GTX
    • 15.4" WideXGA+ 1440 x 900 LCD (720p) with Clearview Technology
    • Genuine Windows® Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 - English
    • Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T???? ?.?GHz (?MB Cache 800MHz FSB)
    • 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz - 2 x 1024MB
    • 160GB 5,400RPM Hybrid Drive w/ 256MB flash memory
    • 8x Dual Layer Writer (DVD±RW, CD-RW)
    • Intel® High-Definition Audio (24-bit, 192Khz) with surround sound
    • Alienware® AlienFX® System Lighting - Aqua
    • AlienFX® Illuminated Keyboard – Exclusive Design - English

    Here is the basic smack down:

    * Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1GHz (3MB Cache 800MHz FSB)

    It is often refered to as a "budget" processor

    * Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4GHz (3MB Cache 800MHz FSB)

    It is often refered to as the "best bang for the buck" processor

    * Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5GHz (6MB Cache 800MHz FSB)

    It is often refered to be the "next step up" but often unnecesary

    I recommend if you can stretch your budget to bump up the the T8300. It is a decent processor and if you do CPU intesive tasks there is a good shot you may feel that slight boost.

    :)

    Hmm price wise the T8100 may be your best option and save 150$.

    The T8300 is actually around 180$ on ebay.

    For future planning this may be a road that would suit you well if you are confident of replacing the cpu your self or getting a professional to do it:

    Buy it with the T8100 > Once warranty is up purchase a T8300 or even a 9300, by then there is a good shot prices on ebay will have dropped > Once you have the cpu up and running resell the T8100 on ebay to compensate costs slightly

    :)

    Moved to AW forum. I know its more of a CPU question but existing M15x users might be able chime in on this.

    Personally id go with the T9300 for a performance system. For a budget system the T8300 would be the ideal choice.

    I'd take the T9300. I did in fact and love it. If you can afford it and plan to game alot (especially with high settings etc) get the 8800m gpu.

    I doubt the FPS difference (if any) between a T8300 and a T9300 is worth the money.
