Simply the best M15x review on the net today. After reading this I felt like buying one more. Review is very informative, lots of detail pictures, descriptive author's impression and the benchmarking is very detailed. Basically all the information that a gamers need its there.

This will definitely be the last article for anyone who is thinking of buying the m15x - The last kill ..

    Well done Chaz

its a good review. i agree with your points. also crysis did own this laptop. im not even going to bother playing it untill a driver update or somthing comes out. i just cant wait to get it back from AW, after repairs. i called today and they said that they recived it on the 19th but dont have any updates to tell me. good thing though i was told by a AW rep that they would upgrade me to 1 day shipping on its way back. im playing a lot of cod4 on my 360 now while i wait.

    only two screen choices.

also Faizan, the comments about sound were the internal speakers only. he said the headphone jack (on board) was clear.

    overall great review Chaz.

I should be getting mine at the end of the week! I'm excited.

OK, so that's it then? With the new BIOS, this unit has no problems? The cracks in the casing was an isolated case? I only saw one person reporting that, but the net made it seem like multiple people had that issue.
I wanted the new laptop before my trip to the mainland, so just waiting to see if AW got it down now.

when you look at the side pictures, you can see a gap on the network connection. There is some trouble, maybee from temperature or something else.

Starstreak, there are other issues, some (not all) are listed in Chaz' review.

the emphasis is on the fact that most/all of the other issues are not deal-breakers.

admittedly, if hairline fractures showed up around the display panel screws and/or speaker grills, would it be enough for you to consider sending it back to AW for them to fix it? ... probably not.

I wouldn't unless it hindered the way the screen stayed upright in the potision I wanted it to be. But then again, I'm the guy who would curse getting a 1 stuck pixel. I figure of my 1600x1200 home screen has no dead pixels neither should the laptop. Would it be enough for me to send it back? No. But would I curse it every time I saw it? Yes. And its sad that the only reason why I wouldn't send it back is it'll cost me money in some way. Either by shipping or my time in not having it.

I already mentioned it... and I will again... the review is great and lot's of work was put into it... BUT, it's misleading! (just look at the ammount of people running to buy the laptop now...)
Lot's of people still have the problem... and even if the fans spin faster, the M15x's GPUs are bound to have the downclock at some point. You could only really fix it, by installing a more efficient ventilation system, not by speeding the fans up!

There are many members also not having the underclocking issue as well. At least one of the members whose laptop is overheating is doing so erratically which tells me that something else is wrong with the notebook.

Does anyone know how many people have had cracked notebooks? It seems to be a minority.
As noted, it wouldn't help the speakers. Also, Vista doesn't use sound cards since Microsoft thoughtfully took out DirectSound support so it's not worth it to get unless you get XP. Good thought though.

Thanks for the compliments guys, they really do make my day. :)

for gaming the 1440 screen is more than enough. this laptop will struggle on higher resolution newer games anyway. but if your getting blu ray you might want to consider it. but on such a small high quality lcd , i doubt you can really tell the difference.

u can always change the screen resolution size... so 1920x1200 is still good for games...
if ur going to me watching movies in High Def... and still game, i wud still recomdend the 1920x1200 screen
    imo its worth it
im just waiting till they come out with the 1920x1200 screen in glossy

of course i think 1900 x 1200 is good for games. i meant that your not going to be able to crank up the res that high and get good performance. i recall reading many articles that said 1080p is only noticeable on big screen tv. i guess it depends how close u intend to sit to your laptop.
