My warranty is running out tomorrow, on the 19th I will of had this laptop in my possession for a year (except for the 3 weeks they had it to fix the hinges).

I called them today to see about getting my warranty extended, and they told me that they are no longer giving warranties for this laptop.

... not even a year old and no longer giving warranties? What the heck?

Has anyone else tried to get a warranty, I was told when I bought it that I could extend the warranty at anytime before my 1 year was up.

    Any suggestions please?

    TIA.

When did they end the option to extend the warranty for this laptop?

Well let that be a lesson to you about how well companies stand behind their promises.

In any event, the good new is that you're less likely at this point to have a problem since most that occurs do so within a short time after you purchase the product.

BTW, Consumer Reports still discourages extended warranties. The maintain that your best insurance is to save the money necessary for any unforeseen problems. I suggest you start saving today!

Soon, many ppl will rant in this forum when their M17 is out of warranty, I was one of the first who bought it. I found out they don't let you buy extended warranty.

You know why? Because everything is transferred to Dell now, all the "old" AW laptops are on their own. You got to love them.

Did you buy the laptop with credit card that gives you 1 more year?

This forum also deleted my thread about it, which has a poll.

I used American Express, don't know if they give me another year, or even how that would work.

I got mine extended an additional 3 years in August-- not too sure if they changed their policy on extended warranties since then.

i was on hold for 2.5 hours yesterday before I hung up, I have been on hold for about 10 minutes right now, do these people ever answer? Dell is starting to really ruin AW, and now it is starting to show.

They said No warranty, the guy said policy changed, and basically it is my problem now.

AW will not receive another dime from me ever.

I'm going to be quite mad to say the least when they won't let me extend my M17's warranty in 6 months' time, if they still say no.

At least I know one thing, so far it's ran rock solid and had no problems. Provided neither the GPUs nor motherboard burn out (and how common is that on the M17?) then I'm fine-considering it's fairly easy to procure a new processor, RAM, or hard drive, or even screen for it. (I plan on swapping to a QX9300 when warranty runs out if I can't extend it)

Yeah that's what I told the guy, all the issues that the m15x has had, how could they even consider the thought of disallowing us the chance the purchase a extended warranty. What kind of customer service is that? I hadn't even owned this laptop for a year, and already had lots of problems with it, it seems as though they are just trying to forget they ever made the m15x at our expense. I've considered right to the BBB and Consumer Reports, and if it would make a difference I would, but I figure that will do no good, so why waste the time, eh.
