Ok yak yak yak heres my question which one the 15x or 17x is better? as in has more features and such thats what i want to know. Because if i get one i prefer the 15x because its smaller, but if i dont get as much as i would with the 17x then ill get the 17x lol.

 

well the m17x is more expensive but has the option for higher specs. Also, dont bet on the m15x being much smaller.. from the look of things, it is almost the same as a m17x but with a m15x screen... it might be a bit "smaller" but it's thicker... I'll probably end up getting the m15x though because from the leaked info I think the additional 2 inches costs too much(from what I remember)

just tell me one thing. Are they ridiculously thick?

 

nobody has the exact dimensions so I dont think anyone can say. Unless I guess someone went up there with a ruler when they had it out.

These look sweet. I've had my eye on one since they were announced. I wonder which color looks better in person, black does look nicer if you directly compare it to white.

 

I also think that the black looks better, especially with the lights on the back lid... ahhh it's so beautiful =]

 

I'd give part of my liver to find out how much the m15x weighs. I'm about to pull the trigger on an np5792 yet hesitant because the m15x might pack the power into a smaller form factor..

No both 15 & 17 have options
in the Skullcap and Ripley design

 

Sweet. The black looks alot better then the silver. For some reason i thought it was only the M15X that was gonna have the option for black paint. Although it will attract many a fingerprint and quite a few scratches as well oh well. I can always use my schools buffing wheel xD and just wipe the fingerprints off

I've managed to get some more:

 

I love the look of the vivid led lights against the glossy black case. IT looks amazing.

 

The silver design looks a lot different in normal lighting than under the extreme lighting in the other pictures, and by different, I mean better. I'm pretty sure I'm going with black, though.

 

yeah black still looks better then silver. Hands down.

 

Would it be possible to set only certain keys with colors, or different colors?

Like WASD with red. E and F with green, space, shift and c(crouch)-trl with yellow or whatever?

Is there an option to change individual keys or just the entire keyboard?

would be nice to set up the gamming Keys

Yes, you can also play video files on each key (but not with seperate sound).
EVERYTHING is possible... when dreaming

 

I actually remember seeing some desktop keyboard that you could set up LED lights on each key to make whatever icon you want on it. Or just display the letter W, A, S, D whatever.

Yeah, that's the Art Lebedev "Optimus Maximus" keyboard. To my knowledge, the new Alienwares only have color cycling LEDS, not videos as the above poster said. Although, I agree it would be awesome to have WASD set to different colors.

cos like the 9750 out last year & already people will "HAVE" to get upgrades
cos of the Dx10 Games out

Spending $5000 on a laptop & it already needs a Upgrade

Or cos of the Dx10 & 8800 we will be able to use our laptops for another3/4 yrs minimum ?

 

They'll max out every game for a year-year and a half.

You won't need a new notebook, you just won't be able to max out too many games by then. A year from now we'll see games that look much better than Crysis, but require a lot more power. The m17x has MXM, and it should be user-changable, you'd also be able to add another 8800M GTX and run it in SLI to increase game performance, so the m17x is a really customisable notebook. With MXM you can also upgrade the video card (if Alienware gives user-access) to newer high performance cards, but it'll take Nvidia awhile to come out with a card more powerful than the 8800M GTX (look how long it took from the 7950M GTX to the 8800M GTX).

Yeah, if Alienware makes the video card user-upgradable (it uses MXM for a fact, though).

 

welll mxm is essentially user upgradeability. It all depends on whether or not the 9 series cards are in the same MXM form factor as the 8800m gtx

I was going for m15x but now i will get a m17x cos its more customisable notebook

 

The m15x should have MXM, too, it just doesn't have SLI.

 

the M15X will have an MXM interface but still with two 8800m cards your computer will be able to max out games longer

 

Do you guys think there'll be a preorder for the m17x in January? Maybe if we're lucky Alienware will ship out machines with a single 8800M GTX in January, I've had my Pentium 4 Dell desktop (with a ****ty 6600 GT, was awesome for WoW, though) for three and a half years so I really want to upgrade.

 

your telling me... i have had a p4 2.2 with gforce fx 5550!!! for six freaking years... I constantly have to feed it silicon and electrical components for it to even run...
