I've had my m5550 for about a year and a half, and the power supply is going. It will stop powering the laptop and the green light on the adapter will go out. If I move it about and move the cable a bit, it crackles a little and comes back on.

I contacted Alienware about this, and they said that even though I have a 2-year warranty on my laptop, this doesn't count any accessories, which only have 1-year warranty. They also said they no longer stock that particular power supply.
Firstly, I wouldn't class a power supply as an accessory, as it is essential for the laptop to function properly.
Secondly, seeing as the device was sold in the EU, I was under the impression that EU law states that a 2-year warranty is mandatory http://www.warrantyweek.com/archive/ww20040629.html

Does anyone know where to find replacement power supplies in the UK, and does anyone know about the applicable warranty law in relation to power supplies?
