    Hi,

I have an alienware m5700i-R2 according to the bottom of my laptop ( I believe it was called the m5750 when I bought it) with an ATI radeon x1800 video card, 17" screen, and windows xp. Last night, I left my computer on overnight and woke up to find it boiling hot and with a black screen full of moving colored pixels. I turned it off immediately and let it cool down for a couple hours, but the screen still looks like that upon boot up, I am guessing my video card is damaged from overheating from what i have read online.

Is it possible to replace the video card myself on this laptop or do I need to send it in to get fixed? If I were to buy something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-ATI-Mobility-Radeon-X1800-256-MB-Alienware-M5550_W0QQitemZ220347261890QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item220347261890&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50 would it work with my computer and how would I install it?

    Much Thanks!!!

that's the right card...just make sure you clean off any old thermal paste from the heatsink and reapply new thermal paste - you should be good to go
