Hey I recently came across an alienware m7700 w/ an intel p4 3.8ghz cpu. What I would like to do is switch motherboards so that I can put an amd x2 4800 in my system. Looking around the web I was able to find a D900k motherboard for about $160 which I would like to buy.

What I would like to know is that other than the the motherboard and the ram is there any other part I would need to buy to change my system from being an intel setup to an amd setup?

maybe the laptop cases are the same even if you put an new mobo For this laptop you will suppose tho change the processor and the Ram to DDR cause the Aurora m7700 don't support DDR2 the same as the Area-51 m7700.
it will be a very costly choice for the performance gain.

But If you are a gamer you can look after a GPU upgrade look at the version of your current mobo and see if it v6.1 or 6.2 I dot remember the version number actualy and put a new Go 7950GTX on it.

ya I got the laptop for $250, from a buddy that thought it was dead (i fixed it) but would still like to upgrade it.

The mobo looks like it would cost me $160 and I already have a x2 4800 kicking around my place, so the only other thing I should have to buy is the ram, or at least I hope.

my mobo is v5.2a so it can only take up to the x800 that is in it.
