Just checked the site and they are not listed on the customization option anymore.

If You're looking at the M15x and M17x, try changing the processor option to a quad core i7.

They may have taken it off, it used to show just the 1066 for anything under an i7 quad core and then have the option of either 1066 or 1333 on the i7 quads. Now it just shows 4, 6, or 8 gig of ram doesn't show the speed at all. What the heck?

It should show you an option for the 1333 ram for any quad i7 as anything lower can't utilize it.

i was just on the epp site for the M15x and i actually only had options for either 2GB or 4GB, with no specs on spped. they must be updating or something.

it is nice to see the new processors, but this RAM situation is confusing. hopefully its just an update and it will be back to normal soon.

Same thing with the m17x as well, it shows the ammount of ram and that it is ddr3 nothing on actual rated speeds. I'd like to think the best and assume that they are just putting 1333 in them as the upgrade has only been like $25 more the last couple weeks, but with the replacement I'm getting having an i7-820qm and 8 gig of 1066 I don't know.

I would be very surprised if it's 1333. It's probably 1066 ram. Either they're having supply issues and they're trying to keep orders moving for their back to school event, or they've just decided not to offer it for the time being.

I checked and even when selecting the i7 CPUs, I tried all of them, the DDR3 1333mhz RAM seems to have gone...

Is that a mistake? An update? Who knows...

Canada M17x 6 gig or 8 Gig customization of 1366MHz still available. On USA site they don't specify the MHz. I think they are adjusting the site. Perhaps they are switching to 1600 MHz. All the more reason to order by phone or chat and clarrify.

Love the new website, M11x in 48 hours. I wonder why it takes 3 weeks for the M17x and 48 hrs for the M11x?

I just went to the Alienware build site and then built a system I then hit print. The print out show 1333

So that means they stop offering the 1066 RAM on the M17X

I think that since Dell/Alienware lost soo much money due to defective and replacement systems that they decided to market just the 1333 instead of both. Especially since the 1066 didn't truly sell real well IMHO.

doesn't everyone mean 13 33mhz ram? AFAIK, there is no 1366mhz JEDEC specification.

probably because 1333mhz ram costs have come down significantly since the R1 came out. I should know, because they used to want to charge you $800 for a pair of 4GB PC10600 sticks. Fortunately, now it's only ~$440 from dell.

What's a good quality low latency RAM if you want to install yourself?

Everyone just uses JEDEC standards as far as latency goes, and since we can't change memory timings in the R2, it doesn't matter.

this is what you're basicly looking at
    Newegg.com - Computer Hardware,Memory,Laptop Memory,204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM,DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666),8GB (2 x 4GB))

The wintech will probably be fine, but it's a brand I've never heard of before. I'd wait for the musking or gskill to come back in stock. Although 95% of ram come with LLW anyway(the wintech does)
