Hey guys,
I got a replacement m17x due to >6 dead pixels. I received my new system. My question is how am I supose to ship back the old system? I was told they would ship it with a return shipping label. I dont see it anywhere. The only thing that came with the box was a packing slip. No instructions on returning... no time frame to return the old system.. nothing.

Unless Dell notifies you otherwise, when receiving a replacement warranty part, you are responsible for returning the defective part to Dell within 10 days of receipt of the replacement part. Each shipped replacement part includes a packing slip that provides you with information about how to return the defective part. Failure to return the defective part within 10 days may result in the suspension of your warranty service or charges for the then-current standard price for that part.
This is not on my packing slip. Did dell send me a freebee? lol -
You need to use the box it came in pack it and call ups for pick-up or you will get a big bill..
You should have the first box or the second one -

if you dont get the return label in a few days call dell and ask for 1 or maybe you should call them sooner then later and see if they actually have sent you 1 and if not ask for 1.

You can call a customer care rep and they will send you a return label right away to your email.

thanks guys... im so glad i got a replacement... I believe my last system had other issues other than just dead pixels. It ati vid drivers would crash for the 5870's. Now the new one is stable and faster. Only issue I had with the new one was fan noise on the right gpu. Since I have my old one I swapped out the fan! Ah life is good!

Yeah, both times I got a replacement they forgot to send a return shipping label. Called up dell customer service and asked, and I got one emailed to me to print out and use right away.
So they probably just forgot, or maybe its coming later, but either way if you call up I'm sure you can get one emailed to you, or just sent by mail if you prefer. -
do you think they would notice if I kept an extra power brick? lol, for the trouble that is! or maybe an extra fanboy hat! I do love the alienware hat!
-
I know a couple people asked their Rep if ok and was told go ahead and keep it and the battery..just ask

Best idea is call alienware and go I need a shipping lable. send someone out to pick up the old laptop. That what I did with 2 other laptops. I kinda had to. Becuse the closes Fedex box that can hold a laptop was 100 Miles round trip.

Call and ask your rep on the power brick and hat, the way I got to keep my power brick was pointing out that they were sending a different one and I wanted the original she told me to keep both I asked how much the extra battery was if I wanted to keep it and she told me to keep it as well as they usually don't reuse the batteries. But ask before you just do it or you'll get a nasty bill and no service til you pay it.

I am facing replacement as well. correct me if i am wrong.
when i receive the replacement one, call DELL and ask for a return label, pack up old machines with all accessories into the original box. stick label on it and call DELL to come and pick up. -

But getting a spare battery out of it sounds better -
I am due a replacement system how long do they normally take?
also is it a full retail package or just the laptop. -

Your replacement system can take anywhere from 3 days to 3 months or more. It really depends on the specifications, parts avail, and approval by Dell/Alienware.
A system exchange (which is usually a refurb) unless stated otherwise will not be a a full retail package and will contain a notebook, power cables, manual, and resource and OS disks. A new system replacement on the other hand is a full retail package.
Hope this helps. -
my replacement system took 2 1/2 weeks. I asked the support rep I used to send me a label... she is shipping a box with the label so I dont have to send it back in the original packaging. I also asked her if I could keep the "accessories". She said she would have to ask and get back to me. I may keep the battery if she says yes... since technically it is a power accessory! lol

Joelhr, don't try to be sneaky with these guys as they don't play nice. Make sure that they are ok with you keeping exactly what you want, if you said "accessories" the battery wouldn't be something most of them consider as an acessory is a peice of hardware for the system. Now if you said "battery, hat, and power brick" then you're good. I'm not saying you didn't do that, just want to make sure you know. I've seen them lock all warranty and service as well as bill people insane amounts. For example the battery is $189.99 in their systems alone.
Alienware replacement system question?
