Hey I recently got an m18x in replacement for my m1730 and the m18x is already crapping out. Is there a way I can just return for store credit seeing as I got my m18x less than 21 days ago but my original was a couple of years ago?

Its 21 days from the original purchase date. Sometimes they do exceptions, it is worth a try.

Hopefully because at this point they will have to open it all up and replace things and I don't want to go through that

Um, if I may ask, what exactly happened with m18x crapping out? I'm really planning to get one myself, and most of the owners are happy with their purchase so I seldom have a glimpse to its problems.

really, dont mean to pour salt on the wound, but any advice would be greatly appriciated.

Well first it came with dead pixels, second when I turn it On it shows a black screen at start uP, third the discrete graphics card shifted on and off by themselves. Its not a common problem so don't be discouraged

Call Dell and ask for a replacement.

If I could choose I would prefer not to own another laptop from Dell/alienware

I had the same problems. The black screen at startup is a problem with post. You need to get into the bios by hitting F2 and disable USB Emulation and USB Wake. I also had stuck pixels. They sent me a perfect brand new screen.

It is VERY hard to get a replacement for a replacement across different models. Usually they want you to order a new one with your credit card and refund your replacement which takes 7 to 10 days. I'd also remove the soundblaster software. It causes problems and causes the volume to be lower than it should be.

Um, is it safe to conclude that, aside from build quality issues, while the problem your guys encountered is uncommon, but once it got to the point where you have to return the product, then everything is starting to decline..?

Does extended warranty cover this? I really want to order m18x but the risk of considering the complications and sequelae makes me rethink... I live in asian country where Dell support is practically nonexistent btw...

Dredd1893 I'm not trying to shy you away from them but honestly this is my third Dell/alienware laptop and I've never had a good one out of the box And the support is pretty bad and their on site repair is even worse. I might just be unlucky but it's been stressful throughout.

Exactly.. wouldn't want that to happen.. The say three's a charm, I sincerely hope you get pass through this and end up with perfectly working machine..

Gonna reconsider the purchase though. Fully configured m18x in my country reseller reached $6500.. would hate to see it burn..

honestly i hear less problems with their desktops and they are cheaper and perform much faster because well they are a tower and these are small computers. If you dont care either way and you want an alienware Id buy the new aurora with the sandy bridges
