O_O
Hell of a deal d00d, this laptop is a monster! -
The 2 SSD's really buff that price out! It's still really expensive as I'm sure you don't need 2 SSD's
-
wow, those 2 ssd's alone are like $1200. Nice deal. Then you can sell the SSD's...
WIN! -
yeah, the total package is amazing. I know an R2 would be a bit faster but would also run $4500 im guessing with dual 5870's so i jumped on this one.
If you could configure it on dells website with all the parts it would be @5500 after taxes....
off to update my sig.... -
Sweet deal, the R2's RGB is very nice though, but for the price you got I guess I could give that up
-
-
For my canadian fellow, you can get a really good deal on a M17x atm, see for yourself!
EDIT: Congrats Aranthira, you got yourself a real monster! Have fun -
Hm... is this of laptops listed just at the outlet store?
-
My old M17x-R2 is going back to the outlet. If any of you receive a system that says, "Dirty Scrubz" on the bottom plate, you will know that the system was mine
This is the original system that was sent to Alienware headquarters and helped solve the flickering issue so it's a bit unique in that sense. If someone does get end up getting it, take some pics!
-
-
congratz! -
-
I have read that it scales up to 4 drives.
anyone else have experience with raiding ssd's on this system? -
i just called. there aren't any M17xs with i7s. and most are in black. a few in red but with bad specs.
-
Alright! I just purchased a refurbished M17x. Price was too good to pass up. After 1 hour of searching on the phone with a sales rep for a red or silver, i bought one with these specs:
Qx9300
8gb 1333 memory
2x256 Solidstate HD
WUXGA
4870 CF
Blu ray reader
2years Complete Care
free messenger and next business day shipping
total after taxes is.......... $2752
It'll be here next week. It's suppose to come without a Webcam. I don't know how they managed that since it's integrated. -
congrats man, thats almost identical to what i got...will be here Tuesday...
what OS did you get? -
i got win 7 home premium. I got a copy of Ultimate that I'm going to install after i test out those 256gb ssds. I might end up selling one of them and installing a 640gb hdd if the performance isn't what i expect. I'm hopping to get 350mb/s read and 200mb/s write. do you know what brand refurbished M17x ssds are? samsung?
-
is there like a time during which i should call? also...i saw this one configuration in the outlet store for a m17x that is perfect for me but the units keep on changing every other second...so when i call them is there a better chance to get precisely what i want? what i mean to ask is do they have a better more reliable list...
-
also if anyone knows...is the 20% discount after tax or before tax?
-
before sales tax....
-
so it seems that they still want a code when called :S...can anyone pm me a code?
much appreciated!
-
What exactly do you get from a refurbished AW?
Do they take it apart?Go over every piece of major hardware?Test?Polish up any scratches?
Just trying to figure out what your getting with a "used" AW.
If the price is right this might be a good option -
well as far as i know scratched units are marked as scratched or dented (but i heard they are usually minor) and the certified refurbished ones...dell checks if everything is working fine and you basically get a new system with warranty and all at a much cheaper price
-
I have to say i have purchased hundreds of desktops and laptops from the outlet and resold them. I inform my clients that they may be scratched/refurbished. I try to get the pre ordered new when i can.
I have sent 2 back due to receiving them in terrible condition. Dell turned around in those case's and sent me brand new units. +1 rep for dell.
Of those that i kept and or resold i have had problems with 3 in all that time.
1 was a PS gone bad, 1 was memory and 1 was a hard drive.
I dont tend to buy the cheap units. Usually they are the midrange desktops and laptops.
I have had 3 M17x's at this point. 1 i bought for my wife. scratch n dent unit.
absoultely perfect condition upon receipt. im typing on it now.
1 i bought new and had a bad wireless card. -returned for an upgraded unit.
1 i ordered late december black qx9300. came to me with a broken touchpanel(above number pad). Dell offered to fix and parts were ordered but when i started getting phone calls about backordered parts i called in and sent it back. this unit looked like it had been taken apart and put back together like 20 times. the screws were all marred up and i'm sure dell didnt use it's normal quality inspection when they sent it to me.
Yesterday i received my latest (sig) unit. great price of 2930.xx. I did have some small scratches around it. 2 or 3. One on the front bezel had a metal shaving that i cut myself on handling it. The GPU fan on the right side doesnt appear to be working correctly. It makes a chattering noise. So im planning on sending it back. i have an rma. Dell is pretty good about it when you receive a bad unit. So i'll order another. ALso the 2 ssd's dont appear to support trim and without an update utility for them im afraid that the performance is only headed downhill from here.
So to sum it up i totally recommend that you buy from the outlet. Good prices and so far dell has backed up every one. -
I bought a couple of the M17X's this past week. Their free Ground shipping is actually pretty quick (2-days from TN to IA). I didn't find a single scratch or scuff on the "Scratch/Dent". The Scratch/Dents tend to be the best priced. I just ordered the 2nd M17X today. Only a P8600/4GB DDR3/250GB 7200rpm/WXGA+, but it had dual 4870s & came out to a measely $1230 after tax (with free next-day shipping due to a problem earlier in the week). I can sell the 4870 slave card w/ crossfirex cable for about $500-$600 on Ebay and end up with a $700 M17X!
P.S. if anyone wants to buy that slave card w/ cable let me know =)
