I purchased an Alienware a few years ago from dell... I chose to order via phone to get a better price which is what I read to do here. Now I am trying to order a new Alienware by the same method. When I call in I only get foreign sales reps. Last Alienware I ordered in same price range I got 13% off and 10% dell credit. This time they only offer me 3% no matter how many different reps I go through. It also seems that Alienware no longer has their own sales team, but it is now integrated with dells. Has anyone order via phone and gotten a US based sales person? If so, how?

Just for reference and to save repeated information, what numbers have you called so far? A lot of people appear to have had good discounts purely just using the 'chat online' function when on the website.

I ordered mine when there was a 10% coupon. I configured my system online and applied the coupon. Once I saved my cart, I called in to haggle further. I ended up saving around 15% off plus I got 5% back in Dell credit and a Windows 8 tablet that I resold to bring the price even further down.

just tried the chat... $1530 model of the x51, they offered me $1399 at the best. Sales rep even told me they had to get a manager to approve that. I couldn't even get 10% =/

Hmm... sounds like they don't have much of a sense of urgency to sell product. Just walk away from it and go do something else. They might just be testing you to see if you will cave in and buy it anyway. If you do not, they might call back with a sweeter price in a week or two. If not, then they are not very ambitious sales people and it may be safe to conclude that they do not care if you buy anything or not. If sales have been outsourced, then just give up now because trying to work a deal is just a waste of time.

OK! thought I'd share what happened. I ended up talking to a sales rep via chat. The sales rep quoted me $1399 on the $1599 model of the x51. I left chat after she wouldn't go lower and reopened with another rep. I got rid of the enhanced support to basic support with the other rep lowering the price $70 dollars to $1330. I then told the rep I couldn't afford that with sales tax, if he could do the price after sales tax I could do it. He was able to do this, and I got the computer for $1254. So list price was basically $1530, a savings of roughly 18%, plus I got 10% back from dell financing which I plan to pay off the second I get the computer. :) So 28% off overall isn't too bad. It looks like chat is the way to go now. The guy I got in chat eventually ended up calling me, and he was in Canada.

Once you receive the machine, call back with the mind of returning it. Talk with the returns rep and they will gladly give you additional 5% off, even 10%, or 15% if you are good. I personally got a 40% off in total in my purchase only a few months ago.
