I was re-watching season 4 of "24" tonight and noticed that the terrorist hackers were using Alienware laptops! The counter-terrorism unit (CTU) wasn't as cool ..they were all using Dell's Business Class (from the looks of it).

Model is an Area 51 M15X if I'm not mistaken (had to Google it).
This is the first time I've seen an Alienware on a television series - these days it's mostly MBP's.
Anyone else see them on tv series or films? If so, which one's?
-
Berkhoff use Alienware laptops for hacking in Nikita series
-
Sheldon and Howard from "Big Bang Theory" both use an m17x.
-
It's a rarely-used feature, but sometimes the capability to upload viruses to alien ships is a real life-saver.
-
I remember seeing someone use an alienware laptop in one episode of Lie to Me.
-
Stole my thunder.............and for the record that's DOCTOR Sheldon Cooper dammit. lol
-
-
Its a m17x, the show came out befor the m18x was even around.
-
What about in the movie Stay Alive when the dude uses his mirror finish on his Alienware laptop to fight off the ghost in the final scene. Gotta be the best usage of a AW laptop yet.
Best pic I could find of the laptop. They had several AW laptops in that movie. And I thought the movie was pretty good for a cheesy horror flick.
I love seeing these laptops in tv/film. I remember the Dexter cameos. I'm fairly positive I saw a cameo in an early episode of House too, although I can't find proof. -
I have seen a few aliens in movies, I think CSI had a few, cant remember though.
What I find strange is that most of the aliens in movies/tv are the old skull cap design ones. -

Actually the Ripley design that's used nowadays on the m18x and previously on the M17x & M17x R2 is just as 'old'.
The skullcap design is what made Alienware stand out from the crowd and many, including me, wanted it back after Dell took over. -
The first couple seasons of Smallville had an Alienware laptop in it as well. It was used at the high schools newspaper office.
-
Definitely the Big bang theory. Sheldon is usually seen using a red m17x at least once every few episodes.
I wonder if dell pays shows/movies to use them, or if they are just used by shows like the BBT because of "nerd appeal". -
Of course Dells pays for that. That's clearly product placement. Look at what Beats/Monster did with their (somewhere around average if not below, talking sound quality) headphones. The whole success was in some 80% due to proper product placement.
-
Yup. There's at least a dozen product placements in every TV episode nowadays. Look at Penny from "Big Bang Theory". That character works at the Cheesecake Factory. They either mention it or shoot a scene depicting it every episode. That's cause the Cheesecake Factory pays for their name to be used as a prop item every episode to promote their restaurant. Works better than a regular commercial.
AND for your information...
Shelly uses a m17x R1 in conjunction with a MacBook Pro 17. Both are red. Don't believe me about the R1? There are a few screen shots I remember of the side showing the audio ports, which were color coded...definitely an R1.
Dr. Wolowitz used an Alienware Area 51 laptop, but how he has an m17x R2, Space black.
And might I add...muah, ha ha!

I saw an Alienware laptop on an episode of UFO Hunters last night. Sort of appropriate, considering the subject.
-
Hawaii 5 O
had it as well
The hurricane episode
Saw the laptop @ boat scene -
Spikes Deadliest Warrior had an alienware laptop featured by the programmer Max
-
I saw a TV commercial a couple days ago for some cell-phone trade-in program and the chick had an Alienware. I don't remember which model she had though.
Also, on the Big Bang Theory topic, when they show the keyboard, you can look at the left edge to see if it has those extra macro buttons. They showed it once and I remember thinking "aha! It's an XXXXX" but I don't remember now if it had the side macro buttons or not. I don't think it did so I was thinking M17xR2 -
lol its looks like a phone book!
-
Doesn't Leonard use one as well? I am positive I have seen him use his own one in that show on several episodes (the one that comes immediately to mind is the one where Leonard is developing a website for the "Penny Blossoms").
I don't think Raj has one though.. although in the episode where they are all playing World of Warcraft, isn't he using one there (the one where Sheldon eBay's the weapon he grabbed while his teammates get slaughtered)? -
Sheldon's alien head on the back of the screen is blue, so it's an m17x as the m18x can't change the color of the alien head on the back.

Sheldon and Howard on the Big Bang Theory have an M17x, Amy Farrah Fowler has an M11x. All of Sheldon's laptops have been red (His Dell XPS, MBP, and his M17x). Raj's computer is a Mac Book Pro. I have also seen Alienwares thrown in as a place holder laptop in commercials and people using them in interviews.

Actually that's a Area-51 m5750
-
You can change the colour of the Alien Head?

Yep, they usually have it open on the table when they are discussing the UFO incident.

On the previous models, the M15x, M17x, M17x R2, you could change its colour
.
-
I'm not so sure they do. I don't even know if they have a budget for promos. Otherwise, where are the tv commercials?
These tv shows could be using whatever is around and an Alienware laptop happens to be it. Think of all the places we see an Apple product on tv. Is Apply really paying to have us see their product that often? -

Ive seen the original m15x on Chuck
