We may see an Alienware tablet sometime in the next year or two. It is totally possible to create a tablet that's decent for PC gaming (as Razer has demonstrated with their Switchblade), but the form factor and price have to be right. IGN reports that Alienware said regarding a tablet that "The answer isn't no, but it isn't yes yet." An Alienware tablet could be a great product, I'm gonna guess they're just waiting for technology to fully catch up so they can deliver adequate performance in a package small and light enough to hold.

If Alienware released a tablet, I'd probably be one of the first to get it. Been considering the benefits of a tablet a lot recently as a general sort of media device, but haven't had the need. If Alienware made one, that would be the end of it, and I'd have to buy it

A tablet would be great to go with rest of the Alienware range. I'd definitely get one.

I use my iPad a lot, it's really convenient. However it seems like the complete opposite of what the Alienware brand is about to me. Sure an Alienware might be a powerful little tablet, but tablets aren't really upgradeable and a newer more powerful tablet seems to always be right around the corner. Playing angry birds doesn't really require a lot of power. Sure there are great looking games like infinity blade and dead space on the iPad, but they are still less than console versions imo. PC games should always be better than console and console will beat portable and portable beats tablet app/games.
It would be sweet to see, but from a brand and business perpective I just don't get it. However crazier things have happened. They could always just reskin/recase Dell's underselling streak line and try to cash grab there as well. -
Hi,
Do you mean tablet as in a tablet computer (i.e. with a keyboard and a touch screen that can rotate and be placed over the keyboard) or a tablet like the iPad? -
If Alienware made something like this, but also with a focus on gaming, I'd be all for it.

Awesome. We will see the first tablet with dual GPUs and active cooling!

I don't really see how the Razer Switchblade is considered a tablet, it has a keyboard doesn't it?

WIN
the asus transformer looks great if it ran window asus would have had my money (16 hours of battery life is just insane)
i'm wondering when alienware is planing to do the jump i'd hate to buy an msi windpad just to see the alienware come out right after -
I can't wait for the "Most Powerful Tablet in the Universe" moniker.
If they could price it at around $500 and make it Windows I would consider it. -
I would definitely only consider it if it were Windows. Android is nice for phones etc, but if I had a tablet I want a real OS on it (and please don't say the iPad has a real OS, my medical insurance doesn't cover dying of extreme laughter).

I Will Take One ;D

As long as Alienware waits til at Q3 '12, I'll be okay, since I just dropped $500 on an Ipad 2 last night.
My wife would put my stuff out on the curb if I bought another computing device this year. And by my stuff, I mean me. -
I disagree with this entire thread. There does not need to be an Alienware Tablet...Alienware is not really a "mass market" or "average consumer" type of product. It is supposed to be a "niche market" or "boutique" product.
If you make an Alienware tablet, the "average consumer" is going to think it is for them when it is not. It will not be simple like the Apple iPad is. It will be complex, as Alienware laptops are meant to be...COMPLEX.
Otherwise, Alienware will become too ambiguous and not have a specific focus anymore.
Alienware will no longer be extreme performance/gaming systems.
They will become bland, average consumer, low end, low price, low budget, regular computers.
So no Alienware mass market tablet, Ev4r! lol.
I just don't see how it fits into the Alienware lineup.
Sounds like "Alienware phone" or "Alienware USB printer" -
I can see it happen, BUT only after more games are released into the market that make use of tablet screens. Currently, games either demand lots of CPU and GPU power AND are meant to be played with a controller or keyboard+mouse, OR they are very simple and are meant to be played on a tablet.
