Has anyone actually seen Alienware screen and Sony XBrite HiColor screen? Sony XBrite HiColor is fantastic for watching Blu-ray movies. Is Alienware anywhere close?

i watched a 1080p movie on my 1440 x 900 screen and i thought it looked very good. the m15x screen is pretty bright and has very good colors imo. you can just compare the screens if you have the specs from the sony screen. you should be able to tell the quality from that. always remember google is your friend.

Just how good is Sony's XBrite HiColor ??
-
usually speaking the sony screens are incredibly better due to higher brightness and color saturation. if you look at a small Bravia tv, it should give you the basic idea of how the sony screen would look like.
btw exiled, you weren't watching actually full 1080p because your resolution isn't high enough. with 1440 * 900 you were probably watching 480i. the hd is based on resolution. 1080i/p both require WUXGA+ -
480i is pretty terrible image quality. i would know a 480i video if i saw it. i would not even watch a 480i video unless i really had to.
it is still the same aspect ratio since there are black bars on the top and bottom when i full screen it. -
ah ok. u kept the ratio. Didn't that come out a bit small on the a 15"?

for everyone's information, the xbrite is a LED-LCD monitor, which means it has the capability of more colours. LED backlighting outputs a more-full colour range than the standard cold-cathode found in typical LCD screens.
If I can find a laptop LED-LCD module when my warranty expires, I'll change mine -

I would say that watching hi-def movies on my M9750 is a real treat. Mind you I don't actually have a blue ray player. Most of my hi-def viewing comes from apple trailers because I want to see how it looks.
I wouldn't' suggest using a laptop to watch blue ray movies though. I mean they are movies and I think they are viewed better on a large screen -
However if you do watch it on a laptop, get a Vaio multimedia laptop. Their made specifically for watch bluray and HD and the X-Brite screens are awesome.
