I've successfully installed Windows 7 Home Premium from the Alienware CD key to my desktop, but I am experiencing a lot of problems that I never encountered with the m17x-r2.
My mobo is Asus p8p67 deluxe.
- System Updates are causing bsods
- IE, Firefox, and Chrome are all not loading certain pages( It will load the facebook login screen but not the homepage. The battle.net homepage loads, but when you try to log in and the window pops up to enter credentials it either stays black or is a black and red box that says it won't load due to security issues. Won't load gmail at all. I've turned on all versions of TSL(STL? The options found under tools>internet options>advanced for IE, and tools>under the hood>page 3 for chrome))
- Bios drivers are up to date, reinstalled chrome and FF multiple times, no antivirus softwares are installed, windows defender/firewall is turned oof.

If this is the incorrect place to post, move it by all means. This is the only closely appropriate place I could find on here to ask for help being that it comes with the laptop.

Size of install.wim from Windows 7 image (English, MSDN): 2.66 GB (no Service Pack 1)
Size of install.wim from Alienware Windows 7 DVD (English): 3.17 GB (no Service Pack 1)
It is weird that Dell Alienware must have altered the install.wim in some way that we users are not aware of. Perhaps, this alternation prevents this DVD from being successfully installed and used in other computers other than Alienware computers. This is one reason why I use MSDN Windows 7 image to reinstall Windows, rather than the Alienware Windows 7 DVD.
Sorry if my advice is not that helpful. Have you tried using Windows 7 SP1 image (MSDN) to be installed in desktop? See if the problems occur again. -
Did you enter a valid code for Windows 7? I know some stuff only works for a few days if you use the Alienware OEM disk on non-Alienware hardware unless you enter a valid code and let it "call home" to verify.

You can download a legal copy of windows from this link..you should never use a OEM disk from one company to another some won't get past boot. I have copies on USB's for reinstalls and works nice hope this helps.

I've never had to enter a CD key before when installing with the Alienware disc. Where can I find it? -
Download a fresh legal copy of windows from the link then you have 30 days to call Microsoft they can scan your system if you have lost or don't have the sticker. Your only choice would be to get the correct OEM disk for it.

If you call the maker of your desktop and ask for a copy of the OEM they may send you one Dell provides one. If you install a legal copy of windows on your system and activate it on line Microsoft will scan your system and your key which is in your Bios. If you have done these steps and still have trouble let us know.

Desktop Reviews - PC Reviews and Desktop Computer Buying Guide
The product key which came with your Alienware system is meant for your AW system only. Installing Windows using this key on more than one system is a violation of the EULA. Might want to review the terms.
