I will never buy from those liers and thieves again. Back when I ordered, the 2nd of April, my spirits were high. Two weeks ago when my laptop finally shipped it was stolen at the fedex depot. No big deal right? They said they would send a new one for no cost. I called last Wed, the day the new one was supposed to be shipped. They said they would ship it the next day. This continued until Tuesday when it finally shipped. I paid for overnight, yet today when I ask for a tracking number, 1. It was not shipped overnight 2. They gave me some bs 32 digit tracking number, fedex uses 12 digit tracking numbers. Now today I also find out they charged me for the 2nd laptop and overnight shipping. I will see you in court alienware, i have USPS inspectors on my side.

Many people have had good experience with alienware, but after the dell takeover thos "good" experience has disappeared. To those who argue that alienware is a great company, sure I agree its great, until your laptop gets stolen, and until you start talking to uneducated robots on the phone.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. But unfortunately, such incidents happen with all laptop OEMs, and Dell/Alienware isn't alone.

Best of luck in getting your money back.

Sorry to hear of all your troubles with the laptop that your "buddy" ordered for you.

Who does the cost of the stolen laptop fall on?

    Was the package insured?

United States Postal inspectors investigate theft from Fed-Ex?

Doesn't the burden of the cost fall on Fed-ex since it was stolen while in their custody?

I saw in your earlier post that you didn't have the original tracking number from when your buddy ordered it for you. Do you have it now?

When you call Alienware liars and thieves, are you saying that someone from Alienware stole the computer from Fed-ex?

Have you pm'd Alienware Armando or Alienware Rose about this? They may be able to help you out.

Again, I'm very sorry to hear of you unfortunate experience, but your circumstances are unusual, and certainly not representative of most Alienware customer experiences.

you're blaming the problems resulting from a theft at a Fedex depot on AW?

Probably not, he is merely complaining about the delays in sending a replacement and the billing (they said the replacement would be free, but they charged him for it anyways).

I never blamed aw for the theft, but if they had shipped the laptop when they said they would, or atleast a few days after they said they would on the phone. I understand delays but why lie about them. Yes the burden lies on fedex but its a multi-company depot and usps inspectors are investigating it. I apoligize for even making this thread. AW has not recieved their payment from their insurance, i assume when they do they will refund me the money they took for the second laptop. I do have the tracking # for this one, but its a 32 digit # and im pretty confused, fedex uses a 12 digit number. Anyone know what it could be for?

    Hey Dr.Blackjack,

You said in your earlier post "He ordered it because I dont have a credit card yet(just turned 18, was 17 when it was ordered. Im pretty sure he cant be ripping me off because 1. I live with him 1/2 the day and 2. He informed me when they were out of stock of video cards and hard drives, about the same time people started talking on the forums about vid cards not being in stock."

Sorry but I've got to ask. Do you have the tracking number from this first order and all the information regarding delivery address? You do have a report from Fed-Ex which includes said tracking number right?

Also, In that thread, Alienware Rose asked you to contact her so she could help. Did you?

    Good luck.

    Hey,

Sorry but I've got to ask. Do you have the tracking number from the original order and all the information regarding the delivery address? Do have a report from Fed-Ex which details the theft and includes the original tracking number?

If you have these documents in your hand, as you should, cool. If not, then you may need to be asking your "buddy" some questions.

EDIT: And ten minutes after this question he logs off. I hope he gets this cleared up.

They charged you a second time, because they haven't reconciled the first one. They do it all the time on other parts, say your keyboard is broke they charge you for a second one just in case it doesn't get returned ( the broken one) However, your case is different they should not have charged you a second time. Demand to speak to a manager, this conflict is not due on your part, and it looks like someone in billing is trying to save themselves some hassle by checkin out the ez route. Again persistance will pay off, don't let them hang up until you get your way. Never accept "we can't do that right now" because they can. trust me.

    What does that mean?

I've asked him several times if he has the theft report from Fed-Ex showing that his order was part of that. Also, several times I've asked him if he has the original tracking number and he won't reply.

I've suggested to him (in spite of his silence to my questions) that he might want to consider taking a closer look at his "buddy" if he doesn't have any of the documents one would have under these circumstances.

I do suspect he is getting screwed over but not by Alienware.

Just wondering, dont they have people sign for the package? So they could easily look it up and go back where they dropped it off and get it from the person who signed for it...

Now, if it was "stolen" like red bandits took the supply truck and the package was in it, then fedex would have to pay for the machine...not alienware.

You say that they charged you for the second one and that is most likely because if fedex really found out it was stolen and could do nothing about it, then they would have to contact aw and transfer the sums to your account. Then...aw would charge you for a "new" machine. If they just said "Hey guys, this guys package was stolen, lets just send him a new one..." there would be so many thieves out there getting away with it.

We are talking about FedEx insurance paying for any theft. That takes time pending an investigation.

And like Rob says there are too many holes here that do not have answers.

Saying that AW are liars and thieves when they had nothing to do with the incident is wrong, but then again they have been called worse and will get over it.

AW had nothing to do with your machine getting stolen it lies at FedEx's doorstep. So if you have an issue take it up with FedEx.

FedEx is responible for the insurance and will pay AW for the stolen property in good time, AW know this. And if your buddy used his card he will not see it on is statement until you sign that receipt. If its there now he is under no obligation to pay for it because of the theft and must report that to the credit card company and they will remove it with the apporpriate proof.

please bear with his, his machine just got stole , im sure most of your guys will get mad just like rob does when this happens to you.
and personally think, this should be a matter between aw and usps, this machine was stolde at usps and i think usps is responsible for the loss and should compensate aw for this loss, here this machine still belongs to aw because it had not delivered to the buyer yet , and so aw should not have charged rob payment for the machine.

Just paste the numbers into Google, and it should come up with the carrier and info. Plus why would you want to let it ship with the same company that lost it in the first place.

AW might be waiting for FedEx to give them the money from the insurance before they send the new one out. Which I would do if I was AW.

If we really have all the facts in this topic, then:

He should get a new m17, even if the other was lost/stolen. If the package never made it to him with a signature, then he has nothing to do with the loss.

Waiting for the investigation/insurance should fall on AW. I can understand a delay in build time for a new m17, but should be shipped out ASAP for $0, and he should not be charged again.

I wasnt insisting it was AWs fault...

Check it out, if my laptop was stolen in shipping...they would have to send me another one. Yes...I know that it is FedExes fault, and they will have to pay for it...

If you read my earlier post you would know this, and its not rediculous. If they had to replace ones machine then you would have to get a "refund" of some sort.

It doesnt matter whos fault it is, you could still use that money to configure a different machine.

How is it your money when your friend used his credit card and no one ever signed a delivery receipt? No money has been exchanged until that happens.

And if the same unfortunate incident happens with the Xoticpc are you going to be blaming them as well?

You are blaming AW for something that they totally had no involvement with and your telling us of your impatience is smelling like a troll.

I'll be so glad when this thread finally goes away!

Although we have all given you the benefit of the doubt and sympathize with your dilemma, there is quite a lot about your "story" that doesn't make sense.

Your buddy ordered it for you while you were away and because you were 17 at the time.

You don't have tracking number from the first shipment that you "claim" was stolen from a shipping depot.

You don't have a police report for the theft.

You don't have a single official document from the shipping company regarding the theft.

Both Alienware Rose and Alienware Kevin have offered their assistance to resolve you issue whatever that may be.

To be honest, the whole thing sounds very fishy to me.

Sorry, but it looks like either this whole story in totally inaccurate or you have been duped by someone other than A.W. It seems you have complete faith in your "buddy".
