Looks like a good one to me, only possible suggestion would be go for the 8800GTX if you want to play games, otherwise it's sound.
OB -
yeah, the 8800m-gtx is definitely worth the investment.
-
i won't be doing any extreme gaming and only game occassionally so i think it would be a waste to have the card in the laptop. Plus laptop will be cooler, if i even find the time to game it would only be like once or twice a month max.
-
Nick the headphones + turbo memory.
-
waste of time having the 1gb turbo memory with 4gb ram.
it does nothing at all and has even been reported that it has slowed a couple of members m15 down. -
-
are you planning on upgrading the ram to 4 gig or you are buying the 4 gig from AW?
-
the new 2gb or 4gb make a difference though. -
i was not a member that long ago....
i have seen several threads on the sager boards of people having issues with the turbo memory as well. not that it is not working, but some program issues i think... -
i'll upgrade the 4gb myself, and i would like to see the thread about the 1gb turbo memory slowing down the system. THanks
-
-
I've heard of it 1GB TCM not doing anything for your system, but slowing it down?
-
-
I don't know how to check really. It came with my m15x so I wouldn't know how it would be without it.
-
You shouldn't be able to see a notable difference in speed with it if you have 4GB of RAM, so if you are planning to get 4GB of RAM anyway, don't waste your money on it.
See: Relevant thread #1.
..and Relevant thread #2.
I heard Turbo Memory 2.0 is a lot better though. Too bad the m15x only offers the 1.0 version of it. -
am i thinking right then that the current tcm at 1G can not be updated due to the limitations of the mobo or bios? or both? or am i way out in left field?
-
since user's are convinced that it does nothing i'll save myself 50 bucks
-
it wasnt either of them 2 that i saw that said it can actually slow your system down but they were good enough for me to say it doesnt do much if anything at all when running 4gb ram. -
why are you buying an alienware gaming laptop if ur only gonna play games once or twice a month?? do u do any 3d rendering or anything??
-
It's also just got a sexy look. Nothing wrong with having a powerful, good looking PC if you can afford it.
-
-
Good luck. -
-
-
Here we go with the analogies again. XD
-
i don't see why people need to question my purchase on the m15x, to each there own!
-
Agreed. No real need to further discuss this.
-
Such is the con of man... -
-
I don't think it says anywhere that everyday users can't buy an alienware b/c it's "too fancy" for everyday use. That's just me, though. The specs look good on the OP's setup. I haven't read much on the turbo memory. The only reason why I got it is b/c it was on the quickship system and I needed a laptop fast to replace my old one. I probably would have went without it if I'd have custom built it.
-
sounds good to me.
even if it does slow it a fraction you will still have one fast mother of a machine that will P over quite a lot of other systems out there.
good luck and enjoy.
