    i don't think so, cuz waaaay more people buy 88 cards than 86 or 84 series. so chances are they'd run thorougher tests on the cash cows in their lineup.

    We're talking about laptop GPUs here and as far as mainstream goes, 84 and 86 series is out there and in HUGE numbers. The 88 series, on the other hand is very few and considered too "high end" for most users needs.

    Desktop and Laptop cards are based on the same chip afaik..

    the story I read said laptop and desktop across the board, but the defects will show up in laptops more quickly due to higher rate of thermal cycling(hot>cold>hot>cold)
