I want to clean the dust inside, in between the keys, under the speaker "fence" the screen, and basically all the dust inside...

I just have no idea what I need besides a bounty paper towel and water... thanks for the help

For the keyboard and internals (including fan), I'd recommend compressed air. If you're going to clean anything inside, remove the battery first.

I wouldn't use water, go for Methylated or Surgical Spirits - they're noncorrosive, leave no residue and evaporate far more quickly then water.

This is getting painful to read, how many times are you going to ask how to clean your pc? Its all over this board. Maybe just reread your privious posts you'll find the same answers.

Do you pre-rinse before you put it in?

Is it just me...or is this the only thread the OP made about cleaning his computer? I even looked through his posts...Come on, be nice.

Anywho, if you want to be thorough you're better off taking your lappy apart and doing the inside as well (dust in vents, heatsink, etc.)

He has asked before several times which are buried under different threads and he has been given the same answers as well. Seriously I have read them and you should as well. Either he doesnt comprehend the easy step by step guides that have been given him or he just wants to run up post counts.

Pre-rinse does a great job in getting all of that gunk out, I'd say. :)

Yeah, and be sure to put in one of those spot-control agents as well. Nothing worse than water spots on your GPU.

Ah, seeing that now. Sorry about that. So I guess the jokes on him...

Me personally, I put mine in the washer, extra rinse; then the drier, extra dry. Gives it that *little bit extra* ;)

i generally use a medium-powered sandblaster to get the dust and smudge marks off mine. for the really icky stuff and the screen, i liberally apply fluorosulfuric acid.

You mean rubbing alcohol? Keyboard is plastic right? Isopropal Alcohol and Plastic do not mix nor any other element inside your computer. Anything that will corrode should not be used.

Whizzo- sometimes you need to take the training wheels off and let them fly, leaving them on too long they become dependant and lazy.

I find that a normal dishwashing machine works great. Just make sure all is dry before you "fire it up"(Switch it on).

    Sorry, I couldnt resist....

Ag, I should have read the thread first. I see this method has already been mentioned :)

No, I mean ~98% pure ethanol.

Rubbing alcohol is either isopropanol or ethanol, along with a combination of other compunds, depending on manufacturer.

Ethanol doesn't damage plastic, to my knowledge (and experience), though there appear to be those that disagree VV

That said, you want to be very careful when applying it - the only time I've ever dared go near a laptop's internals with liquid of *any* kind was when a friend's mum spilled vermouth and coke all over hers and it got into the keyboard and mobo.

Dude, seriously, methylated spirits and surgical spirits - you want the names they're sold under?

Try "Methylated Spirits" from the supermarket/hardware store or "Surgical Spirits" from a chemist.

Oh, and by the way, you might wanna check this site out.
