Am I really too annoyed over this?

As most people know, I've been in Phase 8 for a week now. Upon another user's suggestion I e-mailed Roswell yesterday afternoon.

I appreciate that he found it for me, but there's no sorry it took so long, and they couldn't find a reason why it was stuck there. I've just checked now, and I'm still in Phase 8. I know I'm still before my expected shipping date (July 3rd) but I can't help but feel annoyed that my laptop seemed to have completely dissapeared off the radar for a week now. I have images in my head of it being kicked under a desk and forgotten. Furthermore, I recieved the e-mail around 2pm, and shipping goes out around 5-6pm. So why wasn't it added to yesterday's shipping? I'm just feeling annoyed and angered over the whole deal. Roswell helped me out alot (I have a feeling it would have been stuck there even longer) but the fact is, they shouldn't have had to do so in the first place.


Long story short: I'm still in Phase 8.
Am I being way too cranky/annoyed over this? A few of my friends have commented I should be asking over 'compensation' over it. While I think that's a bit rash, if it doesn't ship by today I'll certainly be more little more annoyed.

 

i dont think you should be too annoyed since the phase system doesnt seem to be correct. maybe starting last week is when they started building your laptop and then they are finally done testing yesturday and today they are ready to package your laptop. if they do ship it out to you today its not going to be possible to get you the laptop on friday tho since you do live in canada. will you still be at your house on sat? fed ex delievers on sat too for AW. i would just give roswell another call and they might give you 2 day shipping. 2 day shipping according to one of my emails with roswell is the fastest service they can offer.

 

if you get your laptop at the expected shipping date then i dont think they have done anything wrong?

I think this whole deal monitoring what phase the laptop is in production makes people more irritated than relaxed. If you wouldnt know what phase your laptop would be in then you would still be calmly waiting (excited ofc) for 3rd of july.

Long story short, if they keep to the promised shipping date then they could aswell be at phase 1 right now, it doesnt matter!

(Havent followed your story so dont know if you have any delays earlier, if that is the case then it is a completely different story ofc.)

 

I'm really not expecting it to get here until late next week (We Canadians have a national holiday on Tuesday). But it went through all the phases quite quickly, but it was one week ago where it seemed to get 'stuck' in Phase 8. And I won't be home on Saturday, I'm writing an exam.

 

I didn't have any delays, but I was recieving e-mails from AW CS for a few weeks telling me my laptop was going to be delayed/that it wasn't delayed, etc. Which made the process more confusing.

But I do know for a fact that my laptop has been in Phase 8 at AW headquarters for a week. Roswell admitted that it had been stuck there, they just didn't know why.

Livre, some guy on You Tube mentions that he made an issue with them about the amount of time he had to wait, and he got $150 US dollars off the price he'd paid.

 

Best advise I was ever given... Never look at your phase status. It's misleading and will only lead to avoidable stress.

Just hope that you will have a good experience after you receive the M15x. That's what you should really be concearned about.

Now go and celebrate Canada's day and eat some Beavers or whatever is that you guys do over there!

 

XD Canada Day isn't until Tuesday, so I can't eat beaver tails until then. Like I said, my main concern is that is was stuck there for a week and no one noticed until I pointed it out, and they don't know why it never made it to shipping. Would it have stayed there longer?

By the way, still in Phase 8.

 

Alienware's order status page has nothing to do with anything. I have heard customer service reps say over the phone that it gets updated pretty much whenever somebody over there gets a chance...

If your order is shipping out before your expected ship date, then there's no reason to be upset. I'm sure that rather than actually sitting in shipping-prep, it was being tested further..or perhaps it didn't meet the quality standards of one of the tests, and needed to be taken back to an earlier phase so that it wouldn't cause any problems for you etc.

I know very well how frustrating the phase game can be, but just be happy that it's on its way...and earlier than your expected date. I'm sure it wasn't lost under a desk somewhere Hope you enjoy your new machine.

 

It's not on it's way yet, I'm still in Phase 8. I am happy that it will (hopefully) ship out before or by it's expected date, but having Roswell tell me 'We found it, but no one knows why it didn't go to shipping a week ago' isn't exactly comforting. I don't care if it takes longer than expected for it to be built or go through the point check, I just want to know what's going on and not be told 'It's stuck here and we don't know why'.

 

Hey, P.S. I took latin all through middle and high school, and vissiem is definitely not a known form of any word...did you perhaps mean "videbo"?

I think it's supposed to be vissem, but I've misplaced the book I got the quote from.

 

I think Callidor is right, and that the root should be " videbo". I'm rusty, though, so would the proper form be " videntur"? As in, "Lux et Umbra videntur, sed semper Amor" = "Light and shaddow are seen, but always love"? hmm... does that make sense? Is it supposed to be, "But love is forever"? aeternum would seem better then...

I think that vissem is a pluperfect, subjunctive suffix, isn't it? Like "Should have" - so, videvissem would be, "I should have seen".

 

wow beaver tails have meat on them . i never knew you could eat that. then again i ate alot of things i never thought i could eat but if i talk about it here it would get off topic and some people might think its messed up.

maybe if you complain enough you can be yet another lucky person to get a bag. perhaps you can even get the new orion bag.

it would be funny if one day i decide to go to canada and get a beaver tail, thinking it was a actual beaver tail and then i complain to the waiter on why its a donut. but unfortunately that wont happen now .

Ok, so quick update: I'm still in Phase 8, and no sign of shipping yet. Getting a little more annoyed by this. Roswell said I would ship today, so I'm going to keep staying positive about it.

And Friar_Tuck, how could you ruin it ;_;. It would have been funnier if he thought we were a cruel beaver tail eating people.

isse would be the ending for a perfect infinitive, so yes "issem" would be the first person singular ending of the pluperfect subjunctive. but when the word is just vissem, there doesn't really seem to be a root...save for the one letter v

with "videbo" as i suggested earlier, it would translate, "I will see light and shadow, but always love."

Thanks guys! Don't worry, I'll be taking lots of videos and pictures for you . I feel quite elated, I was sure it hadn't been sent, so I went did my exam, came back and low and behold, it had. My only worry now is that I'll play with it too much, as I'm supposed to write an exam Saturday morning. Ah well, such is life.

Hay Livre I you have your system soon. I know not knowing when you will get a computer is stressful. I think they need to drop the bit about Phase thing becuse it give people to much hope. What I think they need to do is Give a late due date. So if it back up like a late product. So if some hardware is late it give %5 per date untel it sent to the user.

So if You get the M17X and it late 5 days you get %20 off. of a item.
