I just installed new drivers (180.48) for my video card and i got this problem where I would get a pop up when windows starts that would say:

Windows will now finish installing software from the manufacture of this device ( Nvidia Geforce 8800M GTX) then it gives me two options

    Finish installing software (recomended)
    Ask me again later

So I would click the first choice and it sais installed succesfully but when I restart the computer i would get the same message again, i tried the other option but no matter what i would get the same message. I tried uninstalling and using ccleaner and driver sweeper and reinstalling the driver again but i would get the same problem... Any ideas?

Like I said though I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but i still would get the same problem...

Seems like someone here had a response for you:
    http://www.computing.net/answers/windows-vista/annoying-popup-when-windows-starts/3323.html

I would do what he says. Try uninstalling, ccleaner, restart, then install it again, except when you do install the drivers, make sure you right click the setup file and click "Run as Administrator." See if that works.

There's also the possibility that you did not get the right drivers. When you download the drivers, you have the option of choosing between the 32-bit and 64-bit version of the drivers. If my suggestion above does not resolve the problem, try re-downloading the drivers from here.

Make sure you download both the drivers and the modified INF file and then afterwards copy the modded INF file over to where you extracted the driver files.

Edit: Also, keep all related posts in one thread. I believe you already made a thread for this issue.

The post on that link is from my username...

Oceanus it didnt say on laptopvideotogo that it was for mobile computers, can that be the reason?

Also when I goto Phys X system info it shows 180.48... And games run as well so how can that be if its not the correct drivers?
i copied the moded inf into the folder before i double click on setup right? just want to make sure cause thats what i did...

All of the drivers listed on laptopvideo2go are compatible with notebook GPUs. Even though it lists it as a desktop driver, you should be able to use the drivers as long as you download the modified INF file.

In fact, the driver I'm using now has been designed for the desktop and it works perfectly fine. I'm sure almost half (or maybe even more than half) of the users here who are using drivers from laptopvideo2go are using drivers that were originally listed for the desktop.

but the inf do u just extrract the setup files first then extract it or do you install first ?
Also I forgot to mention lets say I uninstall the nvidia drivers and goto restart computer, then i would get the same windows message except it would say Standard VGA... any idea why that could be?

No, extract the setup files to a folder first then copy the modified INF over to that folder. Once you have replaced the original INF file with the modified INF file, it is then safe to install the drivers.

The message saying that it sees a Standard VGA" is normal. Once you have installed the NVIDIA drivers, it should be able to see it as the 8800M GTX again.

You can always use a different driver version. Since it seems like this problem has risen from this specific driver, you can always try using a different driver.

OR you can try disabling UAC. Refer to this here to turn it off.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/tims/archive/2006/09/20/763275.aspx

I've been reading around and it seems like UAC may be causing this issue. Try disabling UAC, uninstalling then reinstalling the drivers, and then see if that works for you.

You won't necessarily have to format. Like I said before, just disable the UAC when you reinstall the drivers. Once it's done, restart, then afterwards re-enable it again.

...but hey, I won't stop you from reformatting. If you want to do that, then by all means go for it.
