A 15 inch Alienware with 1200p or higher would be sweet!

    I'd love another 17inch sli or crossfire notebook. With a 1440p screen. 1200p is yesterday's news ;).

Higher resolution screens are likely going to be in Alienware's future, especially now that high-end GPU's are coming with 8GB's of vRAM. Only time will tell... I suppose we'll see what Alienware has planned for 2014 at CES again. It looks like another late year.

Wish list? Hmm, sub $1k AW 17's with SSD's and HIgh Res Displays and i7's? Oh, wait, "wish" not "delusions" :D

I have an M17x R4 and a new Alienware 17 - I HATE the battery in my new system. M17x R4, just pull it out. New system, remove the bottom cover, unplug cables and then take the battery out. Unnecessary pain in the butt. Battery should just be a simple removal without the need of tools or computer disassembly.

Next, NVRAM for the BIOS and the difficulty of totally resetting the bios. Even if you have the ability to disassemble your system to get at the coin battery and remove it, that's not enough. You should be able to remove the battery and the coin battery and reset the bios completely without a total disassembly of the system.

17-18" with 3/4k screen high color gamut wide viewing angle (but not full 179 degree IPS), 4 2.5" bays, 2-3 mSATA slots, SLI/CF capable, easy access to all hardware components like other Dell models (a few screws to expose RAM/HDD/CPU/GPU/WLAN, etc). Basically a few mods on the current Alienware lineup and it would be perfect DTR.

All i want is proper bios for Aw18, 3x msata SSD slots, dual 2.5" slot and optional dual 2.5" slot instead of ODD. Everything else can stay the same in AW18. Maybe color choices while we are at it ?

Simple requests and a short list... basically, make the Alienware 18 as good and as desirable as the M18xR2. In order to do that, the following are minimum requirements:

    • Remove Secure Flash - so we can flash our modded BIOS
    • Remove Read-Only NVRM - so we can do a proper BIOS reset or crisis recovery
    • Retain Legacy Boot option - so we can avoid all the severe Secure Boot limitations
    • Allow Manual Fan Controls - so we can keep our machines running cool instead quiet
    • Bring back eSATAp port and ExpressCard - so we don't have to use only USB for everything (then all of my external devices will work)
    • Fix/remove whatever it is that has messed things up on the motherboard that prevents it from being able to use a dual 330W adapter setup

With all of the above things fixed, I might buy an Alienware 18 v2 "Viking Son" as a replacement for my aging but still performance and feature dominating M18xR2.
