I am considering buying a second laptop, but since M17 is able to handle up to 4GB and I would like to have the 8GB ( long term investment) and the m17x uses the old chip set. I was wondering if Alienware/DELL are preparing a new model to attack the new CLEVOs
-
"Quicksilver" coming sometime in 2009. knowing Alienware, that'd be december 31st, 2009 then
-
-

The alienware guy prob though you meant number of sticks allowed... Imo the guys on the Alienware chat aren't very knowledgable lol, most of us would do a better job... They just quick search in their database, based on what they think your asking
-
hopefully it comes out sooner. -
google.com
any way quicksilver will bring hopefully something new like the 4860 ... -
What is quicksilver???
-
you ask what quicksilver is? have you not been initiated yet?
*secret message only members can see*
why haven't we initiated hgfdsa into the order yet? has he even been moved up on the prospects list to "entry-worthy"? we need to get on this, guys, i think he's got a lot of upside. which entry test do you guys wanna go with? i'm thinking the usual hazing won't cut it here, we need to toughen our future members up a bit. the standards have been dropping, and the loss of Jelly Beans hasn't helped. Anyway, what're the orders thoughts on initiating hgfdsa? i like him -
It may sound stupid,but No.
-
Do you have any more info other than the AW PR?
I want to get a new/improved notebook, but I don't have the money.
BTW I like your secret message! -
Whizzo my man, elighten me about that Quicksilver

And I fully agree with your secret message

-

-
Hey Whizzo, Fo Shizzle dat you gonna PMizzle Me Word? In other words can ya PM me da scoop.
Greatly appreciate it.
-
Hey what's with all the PMs? I thought this was suppose to be a public forum?
I may be out of line here, but I always though PMs were for information that is specifically directed to the recipient? Like the times or location of a private club meeting. From what I gather, this is stuff that everyone would be interested in--even if it is only speculation at this point. -
yea whizzo, pm me, im interested in this, thanks
-
I would rather enjoy a PM for this.
-
-
What would really be awesome is a netbook Alienware-style. Perhaps a 10-inch or an 8-inch with a sweet NVIDIA 128MB or something like that, dual hard drives, and a nice wide screen like the Sony P Series. -
What's up with the cloak and dagger routine? Innocent as it may be, still feels a little on the rude side.
-
electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
Oh well, heck, PM me too.....
People all aboard....
Join hands.....
We got the Whizzo Train
Da Whizzo Train... -

and here's the message i sent everyone else:
-
First Ive heard about Calpella being designed for light&thin market. Calpella is the mobile version of the Nehalem (Core i7) architecture where the Northbridge gets moved onto the CPU and FSB gets replaced with the QPI memory controller.
Makes perfect sense that they would upgrade their 15" and 17" gaming rigs for Calpella though....they have to since Santa Rosa production is getting completely stopped in May. -
It would be cool if an alienware netbook came out. I might just consider getting it if the price is not ridiculous.
-
not saying it's a netbook. i just seem to remember something about Calpella being geared towards Adamo-esque notebooks in an article a while ago. i could be mistaken of course.
-
Well the market is there to be penetrated by AW however, they will have to find a good price point and then have an awesome design because there is only so much performance you can get out of a netbook. Maybe focus on having the best battery life on the market alongside the coolest design
-
I'm sure the Nehalem stuff will make it to ULV CPUs for ultra-thins but the Calpella series should be just like Montevina and Santa Rosa and cover a whole range of mobile notebook types. There should be even more quad-core offerings with Calpella as well. -
-
Remember, everytime Mercedes tries to market a compact car (in the States anyway) it fails miserably. -
If Alienware made a netbook with all the cool A.W. looks I'd buy it. Even with just a few hours of battery time, it would suit my needs.
I'd give my Acer aspire one to one of my kids. -
-
come late but still can I have the secret message
-
Alienware should definetly get in on the netbook deal. I'd probably pick it up if it were reasonably priced 600-700 would be a good price point maybe?
As for the voodoo envy that is one sweet little machine I'd love one but the price! And I already bought my m15x (and then my m17) I totally want a firebird though to replace my xps 410 by dell. 1200 bucks is a great deal for such a nice machine -
Ugh, I hate netbooks.
Any New models comming ?
