Hello I am planning to buy the new Alienware 15 and I have seen some people on this forum get some great discounts by talking to sales reps on the phone. I was wondering if anyone wants the help a brother out and recommend any good reps that can give me good discounts. Thanks everyone.

Just call them and give it a shot.. If he doesn't give you a offer you like you can just call them again and hope for another one. If none of them are willing to give you a great discount consider it not possible atm. Atleast a 10% discount should be pretty easy, but you can aim alot higher than that.

It depends, where are you located? It seems easier to get good discounts in the US.

I just kept trying and trying until I got what I wanted. Even after I had placed the order, I called back complaining that a coupon wasn't included that should've been, and I was credited for it.

Try anything you can think of. Many schools/companies have MPP discounts. You can find coupons lying around. And at the end, you can try negotiating too. The key is to get them on the phone. They're far more likely to make a deal with you on the phone, they seem pretty neutered on chat.

I am in the US also I heard the Dell EEP reps give better discounts. Is this true? Do I need to give any info to prove I work for a EEP company? Cause I currently don't lol. Also is it better to call a Dell sales rep or an Alienware sales rep?

In the UK, we have to deal with Indian Call Centre reps who are condesending and offer literally no discounts.. I onced asked for a quote for a AW17 R1 and he had the cheek to take off £20 off 1750.. Really? When I requested for a better quote, he basically politely told me to get lost... Really? Now with this NVIDIA crap, I'm really thinking of getting a Clevo with the next AMD mobile GPU however crap the AMD GPU might be...

I don't know if I could say the name of the Sales Rep that help me, but you should attempt Calling them. Personally I preferred the Chat route, with mix results, but overall was a good experience; out of 5 reps two helped me, 2 didn't care, 1 piss me off and was extremely rude.

Extremely Rude: TIP_Liz- (for privacy reasons I won't out her)
    Duration of Chat: 35 minutes

    HIGHLIGHTS
02/13/2015 10:42:37AM Agent (TIP_Liz-): "I see. well. the coupons that you have, that's the best I can do here"
02/13/2015 10:46:33AM Agent (TIP_Liz-): "as coupon will not apply" *refusing to validate my coupon
02/13/2015 10:49:21AM Agent (TIP_Liz-): "I wonder why you have different pricing..." *I had applied coupons on my cart
02/13/2015 10:49:51AM Agent (TIP_Liz-): "sorry about that, but price and promotions may vary from time to time"
*I had just showed her the quote from the day before
02/13/2015 10:55:45AM Me: "your quote is higher than what I have in my CART" *$127 difference
02/13/2015 10:57:57AM Agent (TIP_Liz-): "can you tell me what's your point?"
02/13/2015 10:59:13AM Me: "if you can give a better quote with what I have in my Cart"
02/13/2015 11:00:08AM Agent (TIP_Liz-): "I already told you what I can, and cannot do, and I hope you understand that I have tools that automatically does the pricing."
02/13/2015 11:00:40AM Agent (TIP_Liz-): "If I can give you a better price in a snap of my fingers, I would"
02/13/2015 11:02:53AM Me: "I'm just asking you what is the best price you can do for my cart today"
02/13/2015 11:03:04AM Agent (TIP_Liz-): "I already told you onset of the chat, please review"
02/13/2015 11:03:50AM Me: "your quoting me a higher price"
02/13/2015 11:03:59AM Me: "how is that trying to help"
02/13/2015 11:04:46AM Agent (TIP_Lizelle M): "as I mentioned above promotions may vary from time to time, I wouldn't waste your time, or even my time running around in circles."

She actually left the session without asking if I needed help in anything else... obviously left her bad feedback

02/13/2015 11:29:03AM Agent (TIP_Char-): "Okay. Our best price would be $2xxx + Tax."
    02/13/2015 11:43:19AM Agent (TIP_Char-): "Total with tax:"

I would cancel your order... NVIDIA have locked down Ocing in mobile maxwell GPU's so no point of spending so much on an Alienware... You can get a similar config from clevo for $2000 or you could wait for more AMD GPU's.. Don't support NVIDIA or their products till they fix this..

Yeah that was a bummer.. I actually signed the petition on Change.org 5 minutes after it opened.. but to be honest I have never OC any PC's before. I wanted this Laptop since I saw it at CES 2015. I support the belief of the consumer should have the right to do has it pleases with their purchases, but I have no trust on AMD . Give it a week and NVIDIA would have to fold.

So should I call an Alienware sales rep or a Dell sales rep? Also should I be aggressive or friendly when asking for a discount, like straight up demanding a 20% discount?

It's just a general Dell Sales Rep.

Personally I prefer the Chat Route since English is my third language and I have a slight accent... What I did was upload an image of the computer I wanted from the XOTIC PC at Checkout and explain they're no tax policy(excluding Nebraska). I then uploaded a picture of the price at checkout from Dell (about $180 difference) so she could quote me a better price.

Do not ask for a Price Match; they don't price match XOTIC PC and you could miss a better deal.. Other than that just be polite and clear on what you are requesting.

I don't see the point in posting the rude chatlog.

Can you imagine being them? Every day, some client connects and instantly starts asking for discounts, cutting into your profit on the sale. Would make my eyes roll.

This is why I don't deal with them ever and have stopped for a long time. I only order from within my Country, and I talk to people within Toronto. I can get straight to the point and the discounts I get are often generous.

It's just a small sample of what people might experience in the chat..

That is why you have to be polite and ask for a quote in an educated fashion. They only get a commission if they help you finalize the sale. Most people would just order straight from the website as is not the norm for the general public to ask for another quote or Price Match a product, is just to much hassle. If I were to post the entire log you would quickly realize that I was not in the wrong and how patient I was with her. Also when she was helping me "FINALIZE" the sale her total was over $120.00 more than if I would have done it by myself, her refusal to accept my discount code was beyond belief.. or she is just used to screwing paying customers..

02/13/2015 10:55:45AM Me: "your quote is higher than what I have in my CART" *$127 difference
02/13/2015 10:57:57AM Agent (TIP_Liz-): "can you tell me what's your point?"

Also it would take her almost two minutes answer my comments, it was obvious she was with someone else in another chat window and just refuse to pay attention to me from the beginning.. you can't cut into someone's profit, they just make a percentage of the sale, if they're not helping you, they get nothing.

The Sales Rep that was able to finalize my sale was extremely courteous and even thank me; she finalize 3 additional sales while we were chatting.

2/13/2015 11:46:24AM Agent (TIP_): "Understood. For your protection, allow me to send you the secure pop-up box for your credit card information. Are you ready?"
    02/13/2015 11:46:33AM Agent (TIP_): "Subtotal # $1,619.99
    Tax total # $113.41
    Shipping charges # $0.00
    Total Price # $1,733.40"
02/13/2015 11:46:45AM Agent (TIP_C): "Sorry! Ignore the price, please."
02/13/2015 11:47:36AM Me: "yeah i figure that was not meant for me"
02/13/2015 11:48:20AM Agent (TIP_C): "Sorry about that.. Here:"

Even though she was extremely busy, she answer every comment in a prompt manner, and her timing was excellent, unlike the other one where I had to start browsing while I waited for her replies.

How much did that end up costing you? Was 2550$ on the website, and you seemed to have paid 1600$ for it? O_O

    I ended up paying for it $2301.02 - $139.64 = 2,161.38*this is including tax (tablet was also sent and arrived this past Wednesday) , apparently she also added;

    1 525-0035 McAfee LiveSafe Consumer 36 Month Subscription $129.00

a program I have no need and asked for that to be removed from the order and reimbursed to my account. I really cant complain, the only thing that bothers me is that they are now giving a way better tablet..

    * $2,737.12 was the original price w/tax
