So i ordered mine on the 20th of may, a big smile on my face using my mum's debit card ( I'm only 15 )
So i picked all my specs, came to a total of 1,500 pounds.
Have been really excited since then until a few hours ago i found this forum.
Now, I'm gloomy to say the least, i was expecting a laptop of this price to be flawless!
But after saving for a whole year, and reading topics for a whole hour I'm scared to say the least.
Has anyone had any good experiences with this laptop?
P.S: I was hoping this thing would last me until the end of college, it looks like its going to last me until the end of the day.
Keep in mind i am very careful with what i own.

I am completely happy with it. It's great...
Appart from a wobbly screen (and some downclocking due to still having old Bios), the computer is really amazing and I'm having a blast of a time using it.
I was thinking on making a new thread just to say "I LOVE MY M15X!"... but then I didn't.
So, don't worry, you'll be fine and you'll love it. -
Well you've turned my frown upside but for how long.. i need some more reply's.
But there alot of BUTS, howevers, excepts...
And how hard is it to stop the downclocking? I'm pretty handy with computers ( built my own and currently programming ) -
well welcome to the forum can you please let us know what your specs are. I mean everything would be good if my cpu didn't downclock. milcs has the t9300 so everything seems to be ok with his
-
I have the same as milc's apart from 2gig of ram, cheapest harddrive and turbo cache. -
Look at it this way. There seems to be a preponderance of "launch issues" with the m15x when compared to other releases as evidenced by these forums, etc.. but if you check resellerratings, AW still has an impressive 8.8 so the company on a whole isn't that bad and with Dell taking more of an interest, things will only get better. If the m15x is a lemon, I'd at least feel confident that AW can either fix it or give you a refund. There's simply no other laptop on the market like it right now which makes it so desirable at the moment and is why I'd say that it's worth the risk. IMO.

Hi Eltocliousus
i dont think im the best advert for AW at the moment but there are lots of happy customers out there. what youve got to remember is that a lot of them happy customers that get flawless m15x wont come here that often as they are gaming to the max and have no need to visit us poor buggers that get turkeys instead of beasts.
good luck with your purchase.
oh i remember when i had a big grin on my face after my purchase but sadly the grin faded and turned upside down. -
Also, I doubt any legit issues are going to be completely and utterly ignored by AW in the long haul, so if you do have problems, they will probably eventually get resolved (if possible) though it may take awhile. The GPU downclocking issues and subsequent bios updates were evidence of this.

im glad for you mate. -
MrDJ, did it stay like this?
EDIT: your frown? -
yep. it went back 2 weeks ago. needed a new motherboard and while it was there they changed the whole case/chassis.
i got it back on tuesday morning and i asked for a refund on tuesday afternoon.
good points:
the creaking screen and wobble was a lot better and i could actually see my light pipe at last.
bad points:
3Dmark score of 7910 passed. it was 9698 when i first got it and then dropped after 2 weeks to 3559
scratches along the front of the case where the infa red is.
case actually was built for Astec Solutions LTD. so i didnt even get the right nameplate on it.
im just running another 3Dmark06 test and ill post it shortly. -
Well I ordered mine May 9th. ETA is June 9th. It better get there on time and better be working.
Everytime i read another horror story it sends shivers down my spine. Spending that much money on a laptop and getting a lemon or a DOA after waiting a month is ridiculous. Plus they have the "200 point inspection". Quality control better do it right. The consumers shouldn't be getting jacked like this especially since we have to front the money ahead of time.
If i get my m15x is good condition... don't worry ill post about it. There are tons of horror stories on the forum. I'm sure tons of people get good m15x but don't post about it since they don't have a reason to. Well, when i get mine ill be sure to post a nice review.
Phase 4... almost 2 weeks now. =/ -
MrDJ, did you get all the money you paid for back when you got a refund?
-
Mine has the 2.5ghz T9300, and I've been very pleased with it. The keyboard had a bit of flex but I fixed that up.
N -
if they had turned round and offered to build me another brand new system i would of contemplated it and most probably agreed but when i mentioned refund they agreed straight away.
as im in the uk its a full refund but if i was in the states it would be a 15% restocking fee.
heres my latest score. its got slightly better again.Attached Files:

My advise... if you keep reading to all the posts you will easily get pushed away from the M15x. Unless you have a strong idea of what you want and you are able to filter everything you read.
I followed the M15x from day one and still here I am, a new owner of a M15x (one week old). If my laptop won't change in an unexpected way, the only thing I can tell you is that this is the first laptop I enjoyed owning from minute 1.
People that post here are essentially looking for solutions, they have problems, they love clevo or some other brand and hate alienware (if you ask them why, they will probably won't know, but it's cool to follow what people say. A bit like me... I'm a Mac hatter. Why? No idea...). So you will mainly read bad things... And this happens EVERYWHERE you go. It was the same with my old Aspire 2026 WLMi, with my recent Dell XPSM1530 and now my amazing M15x. 70% of the things you will read here are problems and unhappy people.
Do like I did... buy it, put it in your mind that this is the THING you want and enjoy it. If it doesn't work out... well, you can send it for a refund. It's not the end of the world...
@DJ... don't worry, you can come and play with me one of these days!Fastttttttttttttttttttttttt...
-
MrDJ... what about the shipments? Do you have to pay shipping costs?
And... what's your last score?
You know what... you should have kept it... or got another one. Just imagine our LAN parties... -
Wow milcs, words from a forum has never made me feel so ensured
I needed that, thanks. And your right. If you don't like it, send it back, its not the end of the world. ( only small chunks )
So the minor problems that occur are the Underclocking, bios, wobble screen and flexy keyboard.
The wobble screen won't annoy me one bit, the fleky keyboard i heard you can fix somehow, underclocking and bios i hope are easily fixed. -
latest score posted above.
i wont be on much this weekend as got 2 gigs on friday and saturday.
enjoy your play time everyone. -
Well I've had my laptop for about 4 months now, having ordered it the second day they were available for order. All in all, this laptop has been great. It is no doubt been a lot more work than any previous electronics purchase I've ever made (e.g. GPU downclocking, BIOS update to fix that, CPU melted because of possible power surge, etc) but whenever I may feel a little frustruated, my love for the machine takes over. Literally, I don't know if I could use another laptop at this point -- the beauty, the power, you can't find those things in another 15" laptop anywhere else (at this point). I literally have nowhere else to go (at this point
); I couldn't bring myself to take a compromise in any form for another laptop.
So, in general, I've had a positive experience and can't go back to anything else in the meantime. The unfortunate thing, when I think of my happiness, is that not everyone has been able to enjoy this computer as much as I have -
I love my keyboard, it doesn't have any lagging. And my smartbay which I ordered separately for about 70 dollars was just delivered today. And it's sweet.
You'll love it, if your m15x isn't a lemon like the others. -
the laptop was working great before my video card got fried. if the laptop does not fail then this laptop is a really good machine. i just cant wait to get it back up and running again
As long as you are lucky and get a perfect laptop then this machine is worth the money spent imo.
i think dhoang hated the m5550 when he used to own it and probably hated AW. I think hes actually enjoying AW alot more now. -
-
I've bought this laptop in the first week of its release. I haven't had ANY problems at all with it! I love it.
-
Nothing less than perfect here.

Any good experiences?
