I've tested and retested the 9.10 Catalyst drivers, with and without mobility modder and Windows 7 has problems with the second 3870 card. In the device manager, it shows the second card as having a warning: Windows cannot start the device. The CrossfireX option in CCC is also inaccessbile. However, if I use 9.9 drivers, no problem at all. Anybody else having issues?

Check your Windows update and make sure that Windows 7 did not install the video driver form windows update. After you install the 9.10 driver, the windows update sometimes would consider that the Microsoft driver is more compatible with 3870*2, so it installed this update by itself. I think thats the cause of second card issue. I have no problem with 9.10 driver. I just simply hide the 3870 video driver update, and everything works perfectly.

Ive got no idea what drivers you have been using so far but... There are no 9.10 moblity drivers (according to this) so if you want to use those on your windows 7 you need to mob mod them. As for the crossfireX option in CCC i never had one, not in Vista 32, not in Vista 64, not even now in Win7 64.

As for the device manager issue i would suggest doing a clean install of the drivers, what i mean is, uninstall the drivers, reboot, use drive sweeper and check if there are any "leftovers" in your device manager (in my case when i uninstalled them for some odd reason one of the cards still had drivers installed in device manager, so what i did was to uninstall both of them from device manager), reboot again, then install the drivers you want.

I disassembled my M17 and I found that Alienware gave me 2 3870 master cards. The sticker on the second card is also written "M", but it is crossed off.

You could check the bios (gpu bios that is) sizes to see/verify if its a slave or not. They might have flashed it to a slave one.

Well, I checked the bios and they do flash the second card to a slave one. So, Can I flash it back? I heared that there are some advantages for doing this.

Think there was some discussion about that with the 4850's, not sure if anyone manage to do it with success though. Or if they saw any benefits in general.

I'm just running good old 9.8 drivers, seeming as further drivers don't really give any advantage for 3870 users.

I too had issues with the Catalyst 9.10 (and 9.9) drivers.

The 9.11 beta drivers seem to have fixed the problems I was experiencing with my W90.
