So I downloaded HDTune to bench my HDD's a while back, and I just realized that the temperature reads "--" and the health tab is completely blank.

I know not all of the features are available in the free version, but my friend downloaded it onto his Gateway FX laptop and it is working fine. Does anyone else have the same issue as me, is there a fix? If so I would very much like to know.

HDTune 2.55 (free version) can be downloaded here.

Nope - no fix. Its caused by the NVIDIA chipset. HDTune doesn't see the data.

Aww damnit. Is there a HDD Utility that will work? I tried the Western Digital one (can't remember the exact name) but it didn't seem to have temps, or work with my drives. It said they were both logical and I couldn't use any of the program's features on them.

Did you install NVIDIA System Tools? I know that includes a monitor module. I personally don't like the monitor GUI and think its a bit 'fisher-price' so I always skip installing it and stick with the Performance Module only.

Might want to check it out if you really want to see temps, etc.

Its here if you don't have it:

Everest will display the temps of an HDD if the drive has a sensor.. It never worked on the Seagates but the WD would display this info.

Same issue here. My hard drives are completely invisible to HDTune (health and temp). SeaTools is a no-go as well.

Doesn't matter I guess. It would be far worse if I couldn't read my GPUs and CPUs temps constantly with Everest on my taskbar ;)

I do use NST, but only the Performance feature since I hate the Monitor GUI as well. It used to be so good before, they had a graph and it could record the temps and everything! Now it sucks..regardless, thanks for the link.

I will give that a shot, thanks.

If your hard drives are configured in a RAID array, then you will not see the temperature readout. That is not a fault of the Nvidia chipset.

I use everest to output temps to my G13 gamepad lcd. This way i can always see them when gaming.. It comes in very handy.

Yep, I'll confirm that as well WaR. No RAID here and the readouts are also missing.

It cold also be the drive. Easy way to test is put a different mfr drive and see if you can get the temp read-out.

If so, it isn't the chipset....

    It's gotta be the chipset.

I have a drive that I can confirm was 100% working with checking the temps in my old computer that isn't showing temps on this one.

Well, if that's the case, then yep. Chipset and/or drivers....
