I just updated to bios x36 and GPU drivers 179.13

I am experiencing downclocking occasionally. More often when I am doing office work or surfing internet the core clock was 200mhz and memory clock at 600mhz. But when I am gaming the clock automatically jumps back to core clock: 500mhz and memory clock at 799mhz. It then downclock again when I exit the games.

Did anyone have any experience on these. I use to get 500mhz and 799mhz all the time using bios x32 and the old driver, be it idle or gaming.

    Any help/comments appreciated.

this is normal, the GPU driver does this when there's only a light load on the GPU to save power. nothing to worry about.

It also allows it to run cooler as well. As soon as you run a program Nvidia thinks is a game it will jump back up to normal speeds.

This is called powermizer and is a feature by nvidia, as pointed out, that will make you run as cool and efficient as possible while sacrificing none of the performance.

hey freeman I guess there was a tool to disable or tweak powermizer in such a way that it does not downclock when running on battery... do you happen to have the link for it? I got smartbay battery and want to do certain tests with the system... I might start my review next week or later after that.
