Left click battery icon on taskbar

If that doesn't work
Right click battery icon on task bar

"Change advanced power settings"
Display -> Auto Dim -> Plugged in: Off -
There is no way to turn it off axman as its not part of the software and its part of the bios.
-
It seems to be a "feature" of these custom samsung panels.
I REALLY hope this gets fixed with a FW update or whatever. The panel is fantastic but the dimming/iris-like function is annoying, to say the least. -
There's no option to disable it in command center?
-
there is no option anywhere to turn it off
Its either in the bios or the panel itself . not sure until someone cracks into the bios .
Auto dim is not the same as this. This is auto contrast.
Oh btw all the light bleed i had when i first turned it on is now gone completely . this has happened on other machines i had in the past and another reason i would hate to return this machine . -
What resolution monitors are you guys seeing the auto contrast or w/e?
I haven't seen it at all. -
Wuxga . Take a dark desktop background like the ones alienware provides then open up my computer and take it to full screen now minimize back and forth . This is not an illusion from the white making you think its getting brighter .
I had 4 people already watch it first hand and you can see the panel jump up the brightness drastically by doing this.
Also when minimizing back and forth watch the task bar at the bottom go from dim to bright.

So who in the hell decided during the design decision that this would be a great feature that everyone would love? Not only that but to not even give the user an option to enable or disable it is pretty brainless.
-
Clearly people who thought it was also a multimedia machine IE people who love watching movies.
My Sony HDTVs both have this feature and when they see a ton of black on the screen they dim accordingly to give the illusion of deeper blacks. -
What we should try to do is create some type of petition online to ask them to change or go to that dell idea storm website where they take ideas from the public etc.
I have never done an online petition so im not sure where to start but if someone has the know how then it would be a pretty good idea.
Im sure there would be a ton of people who would sign it . -
I would and I don't even have my notebook yet. My samsung 46" has this feature but has the option to disable it.. go figure.
-
it can be a pain in some games i find like ARMA 2 when the sun is in one spot but everything is real dark when you look away.
-
Considering how bright this panel can be its very disappointing when it dims and even more so in games .
Im not sure if its in the panel itself or not though , im thinking it is based on the way it works where it sense's black then dims. also Not sure if some type of update could even fix it is what im really getting at. -
Isn't there some higher up alienware technician or samsung person someone could get in contact with and get to the bottom of this.
-
Maybe if someone like Z-factor buys the machine he will swap in a new panel which would rule out it being the screen .
Anyone figure out how to turn off Autodim on M17x?
