Shipping in Spring
Looks like the search continues.... Those new VAIO lappies are looking sweet! -
M11x? enh unh anh?
-
-
Im definitely picking this thing up.. now i wont have to carry my m17x to class =P
-
Engadget is calling it a netbook, but I don't see how that's gonna fly for $1k.
-
they probably figure anything under 13inch without a cd drive is a netbook =P
-
Well its an Alienware Netbook which of course adds a little to the price tag plus the dedicated GPU for something so tiny is pretty amazing..
-
I wonder what processor they're throwing in that, I hope its something stronger than an atom
-
If the processor of this thing is better than an atom I'm sold lol (and considering that it's small... That's an alienware which i actually can import lol).
-
Needs more specs and less marketing numbers before I can make a decision.
They could have fit a 4:3 screen in that lid. -
spring...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
i want a new lappy NOW. -
Well, if the Adamo folks decide to the throw in a new core ULV, that's where my $ going, shadow
That is, if they do it VERY soon... -
-
Apparently they've put a Core 2 Duo in it according to http://gizmodo.com/5442786/alienware-m11x-hands+on-fast-ride-in-a-short-machine. I can say regardless of the resolution or settings, if it really can manage that sort of framerates it's got something a damn sight more powerful than an Atom in it.
I think I'll be getting one. In about 6 months though. If my end of year report for school is good enough I might be able to get one...and for $1000 I really like the sound of it especially if it manages that 6.5 hours battery and 2 while gaming. -

I'm surprised they aren't using a core ix series CPU. For something likely not shipping till June, a core 2 seems... outdated.
-
^
Maybe that is why it won't be available for a few months.
The prototype had a C2D, but the shipping model might have ULV core i5 -
tick tock... -
-
spring is a long way away, maybe i will buy that asus Ul30VT-A1 and sell it when this bad boy is released....
-
and i was just on kotaku and one of the ads was already for the m11x. in the bottom corner it had the C2D inside logo. looks like that wont be changing.

Dam, this is looking very doable for me haha, I need something a little more mobile than this M17x, and why not have it match?!
-
just got a sony ux 390 ... but i am looking for somthing smaller ....
i think its i3 i5 imo -
Again, if it was C2D, why wait 3 more months for release?
IMO, they are tweaking for the ULV core i-whatevers
One can hope, right? -
i'm definitely think about getting one
asap it will come to Russia -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
As long as it is ANY intel non-atom CPU I will be happy lol
-
will depend on price but it is very nice imo i saw it today
-
I Want Something A Litle More Faster Than The M17x
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
then an 11" will not meet your needs haha
The M17x will however beat the HP firefly in your pic -
I'm an IT consultant and this would do the trick nicely since the M17 is too heavy to lug around.

After seeing it, I'm definitely going to put off buying a new lappy until it comes out. I'm still not sure on it, both because I worry about heat (I can't be the only one thinking it. . . ) and I'm still debating about getting a 15.6" so I can have Full HD and a number pad.
I wasn't even considering a small laptop before (my current is 12.1", but it overheats and has fairly lousy performance), but mostly because there just isn't anything compelling for me on the market. After seeing this, well, I would love one. As I said, if heat is not an issue, I very well may get it.
-
I'm getting two of these sometime after it launches, matching pair for me and my gf =P
-
I'm getting one! (I kinda want it now though
)
-
Pray for no DPC latency, stuttering or random CPU downclocking on this thing! Haha, actually im pretty sure it'l be a pretty flawless machine, it looks great!
And the nvidia 3** series is looking fairly nice. -
There is no mobile i3 ULV btw. They're both 35W. -

Not sure.
$241 tray prices aren't bad at all. Right about the same with the current CULV's.

The C2 Solo SU3500 sells for $262/1K. the C2D SL9400 sells for $284/1K.
Now compare the price of an Acer 1410 to a Thinkpad X200....especially when both were new. -

it is most likely one of those low wattage i5 parts, is my prediction at least
-
That's what I am hoping for too, scook
-
I think if it were an i5 they would have used that as a selling point instead of referring to it as just a "low power CPU" in the presentation.
-
hope you guys are right and the ads they are running with the C2D inside logos are just early or something.
-
Well, the only REAL spec released was the GPU, right?
-
Depends if you want to believe CNET or not.
-
Thanks for that, phinagle. Didn't catch it before.
Meh... Already ordered the updated Envy 15 -
benthedogtrainer Notebook Evangelist
crzy already on the web site

I'm going to get this for sure! Even if it has heating problems, I'll deal. I really want an ultra portable laptop, but I want the looks and power that Alienwares' have.
Funny, I remember wondering if they would ever make a netbook. People said it just wouldn't work. lol -
see this is exactly what i need, a gaming desktop + this thing.

Anyone going to get the new M11x?
