Anyone had any experience trying to persuade the Europe/UK Dell Sales team to give discounts?

Thought I'd ask, I have really hated the *experience* that AW UK/IR have given me, however the lure of the 4870s with the nice HDMI audio is luring me to the dark side of possibly ordering via Dell/AW.

Seeing as AW section are still delaying even sending me the RMA details so I can get a refund on my M17, I've still got some time to consider my move, and am trying to see if I can secure a discount code or incentive to buy as an apology for the whole hassle they've caused me (free GPU upgrade would be sweet, and would be perfect :p) from the supervisor who's having to organise my refund.
If not though Im gonna try plying the whole hassle, and well if you ever want me to order again (politely ofc) etc scenario and see if I can get anything out of the Dell sales guys (hell they can check my AW account and see Im not bluffing).

Quite frankly, the 4870s M17x should supply all I could want right now, but given I spent £1600 on my M17, I can't justify £2200 on the slightly faster M17x, hence trying to obtain a discount, I wouldn't mind paying a few hundred extra for the benefits of the M17x over my M17, but £600 extra for an equivalent/similar spec??

(It IS a different tech/support team with the Dell supplied M17x than the AW M17 isn't it? )

I know it's a long shot, but has anyone got any experience trying to claim anything with these guys. (Yes we know they like discount in the US :p)

Ofc if I cant get anything off them then Im likely going to go Kobalt Commanche SLI (M980nu), as not only can I get a similar spec cheaper; they also offer a without OS option (with cashback if I accept it), which suits me fine as I have spare; plus being a smaller company they might be willing to sell me a memory/processor/hdd-less chassis, which would bring the spec back into the area I spent on my M17. That and they communicate decently on thier official forums is a nice personal touch.

If you want the alienware m15x, there's a 5% off discount code: G?6211M6C54PD0.

    Got nothing on the m17x

It never hurts to negotiate pricing on the front end of a deal--once they've got your money you have no leverage.

Aye, will definately negotiate with the sales guys, just wanted to ask if anyone had experience of it with the Euro guys. Im hoping they might come up with something as an apology with the refund as incentive to shop with them again, but not holding my breath on it; although would be a good gesture; not like they're blameless in my whole experience in the slightest.

@ Skynet thanks anyway, wouldnt buy an M15x though :)

    Google for them.

Sometimes theres even 15% discount coupons.

There doesnt seem to be any atm, I can get a 4% cashback via buying through my family, but there dont seem to be any decent coupons out for Europe/UK right now, the most Ive found is 5% and they aren't even applicable on the M17x.
10-15% would be perfect, as they'd cover the GPU upgrade, and bring the M17x into the price range Im willing to extend to.

Hahah thanks, you can probably appreciate if you've read my thread why Im looking for something back from Dell here as an incentive!

Edit...hmmm Dell Live Chat just told me there is a Customer Care department after all; something Alienware tech support denied for a month. Might have to see what they have to say over the whole situation.

Just tried to go round in circles and try this customer service number I was given earlier; and all it did was give me the same damn options as the number before (sales/techsupport/check your order) :(

Really fed up with these guys, tech support promised me the RMA refund email on friday and again today, and it's still not materialised.

Once I've got my refund on the m17 thats the last thing Im going to try, basically say right Im willing to order NOW, if you'll give me a decent discount considering my past experience, and bring it the south side of £2000.

Barebones system with xFire 4870s is £2289. Good luck getting it under £2000, unless that's all you want.

Bit less than that in the UK, £2122 (with a 1920x1200 screen), as we get charged a little less for the graphics upgrade than the US customers, 10%/free GPU upgrade would do me, but with UK support not a bats chance in hell I'll reorder at full price.

    Close enough :D
The price on SLI 280s is an absolute joke lol..the 4870s are faster, better featured and cheaper!

As I say, if they could do me a decent percentage off, or free GPU upgrade, I'd possibly go for it (I have the extra money right now, got about £400 just sitting in my account, and Im due £1602 back), but anything beyond that and not a chance, the machine is expensive enough as it is; considering EU support levels, you dont buy a ferrari and expect the same customer service as a vauxhall (opel) customer :D

but hey, when you ordered it ?! Is it more than a month ? If not, call'em back, tell them that you weren't aware of EPP situation at the time of your purchase and wish they to apply a retro-active discount , otherwise you will return the system !!

When I ordered mine there was a coupon for 10% off XPS laptops that worked for the M17x - think they plugged that loophole pretty quickly. My system shipped without the 2nd HDD caddy. Threatened to return laptop for refund and then re-order with 2 HDD as Dell refused to either give or even sell me the caddy. Dell CS offered me another 10% refund to keep the laptop. I agreed then ordered the 2nd caddy from Alienware CS for £19. In the end I paid £3030 rather than £3717.

Eh... If you place order on their sci web site http://www.dell-sci.co.uk/, you will get 10% discount for students(at the end of your order page,it is not show on the price page), I just get my M17x in this way.

By the way, they didn't verify my qualification, so if you are not a student, you can also do it in this way... ^ ^
