Looking at the 17 R4 and decided to take a look a pricing options in the normal sales area as well as the outlet. Found a system listed as new in the outlet that is a really nice configuration and at a really good price (configuration and price below). Are the systems in the outlet listed as new really new? Any experience with buying one by anyone?
Thanks for your time..
Les.

I just got my 15R3 from the Dell outlet last week. Found the config I wanted (1080p, 1070, 7820hk, 512ssd/1TB, etc) for a decent price. It was labeled as "New" on the website. I got it in Friday and the only abnormal thing I notice is a very small indentation at the top of the display on the outer rubberized edge portion. Almost as if someone pressed their fingernail against it hard enough to put a little dent in it. Other than that, there wasn't a scratch or fingerprint on the thing. So far everything works fine, although I did have to perform a clean install because for some reason the OS was loaded onto the 1TB drive and not the SSD. So I assume this laptop was a return or maybe put in the outlet due to the tiny imperfection in the outer lid. I'm happy with it and won't be returning it because of this tiny imperfection that is barely noticeable only if you are looking for it.

I purchased a certified refurbished 17r4 6700hq 1070 and 1440p 120hz Gsync from Dell outlet a 2 months ago. The laptop arrived with a stuck pixel that I couldn't fix. The QHD screen had the banding watermark (no surprise there), and 18c cpu core temp differential which means they did not fix the heatsink problem before selling the laptop again. I noticed screwdriver pry marks along the edges of the chassis paneling. The sales rep had reassured me that all these issues would not be present as the repair techs would have replaced the heatsink/screen etc. Pretty disappointing to find that BS. Every time I opened the AlienFX command center a error would pop up and would prevent me from closing the software or exit the error popup. I had to use task manager to force close the application every time. I tried reinstalling the software/reformatting/following Dell's online guide on how reinstall/clear registry etc to no avail. Finally called tech support and they said it sounds like the chip that the software connects to is busted which would require the whole mobo to be replaced because it is soldered on. I decided to send the laptop back for a refund.
Oh, and pray that they secured the power brick down inside the package. The laptop is secured to this folded cardboard via plastic wrap. No additional protective foam or air bags. The heavy/large charger was just put in without any sort of anchoring so I can imagine the charger just flopping around banging into the laptop during transit. I spoke to another customer who mentioned the top of his laptop was dented in several places because the charger was not secured in his package either.
I originally decided to go with an outlet purchase since I heard people were able to get really nice systems for cheap but it is definitely a roll of the dice. If you're a gambling man, go for it. -

I just ordered a 15R3 from the Outlet. 7700HQ/1070/16GB/FHD 120Hz
It will be arriving before Friday. I'll be more than happy to provide you with a review if you want! -
Ordered a machine from their ebay store. Haven't had any issues, thus far. Good machine, no tax, and a few hundred off while retaining the one year parts and service coverage.
Anyone have experience with Dell Outlet?
