I was wondering if anybody knows how well does Alienare fix a hinge problem? Do they do a quick fix solution where its possible the hinge can break again or do they have a new design to make it sturdier?

My hinge is not broken now but when I open and close the laptop it makes a clicking noise when I open it all the way up, im moving to another country soon which wont have Alienware support so I want to make sure it wont happen in the future.

Any help from those who experienced hinge problems and sent it in please let me know. Also if you can tell me how long is expected time to fix it?

I also wanted to add that I cant find the original ram it came with since i upgraded to 4gb myself, I doubt this myself but do you think its a problem.

Mine is currently at facilities in Houston, TX waiting for hinge parts. They already replaced my motherboard as I was told.

They wouldn't take your RAM, unless it is the cause of any trouble in your m15x.

Yea, I saw that thread, but I don't want no mod. I want a real hinge that actually works.

It is not the hinge that breaks it is the lid, were the hinge meets the crappy plastic. IMO there should be a metal loop/frame in the lid, but there is not.

man.. those are brutal pics. Mine was starting to come apart but not that bad yet, so I sent it in for repairs as soon as I can.

    Looks like the hinge.

    my friends m9750 hinge broke

the nut secureing it to the lid snaped off

if they made the lid metal like the m17 it would be fine .....the m17 is made to be pretty though

I told them to also fix the hibernation mode and stealth mode since they both dont work, when I hibernate it wont wake up... Should I call Alienware and remind them to fix that even though the tech guy said that he added it to his "notes/.... how long does it take to repair?

If it's in the ''notes'' then the tech will try to fix it. It's good.

Might be interesting for a 15X owner to conduct a survey here at NBR, asking 15X owners to state how long they've owned it, has the hinge broken and how many times, and how many times it's been sent in for repairs.

Maybe try to get all those with hinge problems to participate as well as all the 15X owners who haven't had this problem as well.

Its been done several times all with the same results. Brings out the Trolls and the Troll Killers and gets nothing accomplished.

I think AW and Dell will be glad when the product life on this model comes to an end.
