I was wondering if anyone could check default value of 4900mq's current processor limit for me.

4900mq's owner easliy can check it in XTU.

    I'll appreciate it.

    Thx.

Limit of what? Multipliers? I'm confused as what limits you are concerned with.

I believe intel's spec calls for 95 amps.

there is an option named "current processor limit" in XTU.

I'm currently have alienware 18 and

because of alienware 18 messed bios, (default value is staying 55000 before I change XTU setting)

there is no way to find out correct factory "current processor limit" for me.

there is many guys saying it's 90000 or 112000....etc on the internet,

but I'm looking for correct factory value.

because I just want get stock clock speed without any of overclocked value

I just want to know correct factory value of "current processor limit" for 4900 for alienware 17 or 14 owner.

Yes, it should be 95.000A by default. If you boot the 18 with Intel HD graphics it should be set correctly. It's only goofed up when booting discrete graphics. Alienware knows about this problem, so we will hopefully see it fixed when A05 is released.

It's actually not enough for the 4930MX to run right. 112.000A or more improves performance, but I know that is not your question. I mention it because that's why you see a variety of answers.

Well in your first post you didn't indicate "current" but yes the default value is 95 .. Also I don't run mine at that level because at 4.0ghz it needs more current.

Factory Alienware 18 default current is 55A. Maybe they limit this for a reason......maybe going above that 55A figure with discrete graphics is too much current for the PCB to handle eg:might end up burning the PCB tracks?

If that were true, then the machine would be utterly worthless. At 55.000A the CPU performs horribly and cannot even hit stock turbo boost speed.

A design limit of 55A would be normal for an ultra book.

Yes, probably with something like a 4700U or less... a 3.0GHz CPU is definitely not a high performance product model. Certainly not suitable for 4800MQ or higher. Something rather lame, like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Asus-Q5...top-i7-4700U-1-8-3-0GHz-8GB-1TB-/190876483831 - Nice enough for web surfing, watch YouTube, using Word and Excel, playing FreeCell and Java games, but nothing serious. This looks remarkably similar to my wife's XPS 15, but not as well made and and the XPS has discrete graphics... and $500 more than what I paid for the XPS.

Yeah, it's actually a beautiful machine. I really like it a lot. My wife loves it. It's great for normal everyday use... built like a brick house, too. I got her that for Christmas on sale for under $800 to replace her aging Inspiron M5030 (Athlon II P360 and Radeon 4250M graphics), which is still going strong. We paid $299 for that thing when we bought it brand new back in late 2010, and it still looks and works like brand new, LOL. A lot slower than her XPS, but still a solid machine.
