I found these pads under my aw m5550 heatshink, and I know they are GPU thermal pads. While I was putting new thermal grease on my CPU, my friend didn't know what that pad for so he rip it to haft. Now I can't put it back because I'm afraid that my new Go 8600M GT gets overheated. Dose anyone know what type of these thermal pads are, and where I can buy them? Please help, I need to put them back together. Thanks a lot!

almost any thermal pads will work as long as they are thick enough. doesnt matter much the type or brand

I did put AS5 on, but it didn't work. After I put AS5 on, it run for 2-3 minutes and it just shuts down by itself. Thanks for the links nandeep!!!

you can use the pads mentioned, or you can use paste, than a copper shim, and than some conductive adhesive to keep everything in order.

You need the thickness because the pads are their for a reason, they are thicker than paste, so if you replace a say 1mm thick pad with 0.1mm of paste, you have a air gap, causing the core to not even conduct with the heatsink.
You can fill the gap with pads or copper shims.

SHIN-ETSU makes good stuff, as does 3M. Both sell thermal pads

I already made a purchase one of these pads that nandeep mentioned. I hope it will work!!! I'll post the result later. Anyways thanks a lot for your help guy!

BS: In this case, did my CPU get overheated and shut down or my GPU. Does it affect anything to the performance of either CPU or GPU at all?

Did you remove your CPU as well and forget to grease that before you put it back in?

    U ar welcome..

BS: In this case, did my CPU get overheated and shut down or my GPU. Does it affect anything to the performance of either CPU or GPU at all?

did u remove the grease over the processor?? or the GPU....
it should not effect or damage ur processor or gpu as they are designed to shutdown at certain temp. but be careful not to stress them too much...
don't use it without thermal stuff

PS:The IC's that go into ur laptop(processor,acpi,GPU,ect..) are pre-tested at a temperature of 268 degrees F for stability. so u don't need to worry.....

Yes, I did remove grease on my CPU as well, but I put the new grease on both of the CPU and GPU before I reseat the heatshink. As nandeep's statement, now I don't need to worry any more. Thanks for your quick responses guys!

I got the pads yesterday. It took me half an hour to figure out how to get the pad out of the sticker to apply on the surface of the heatsink. Because it's too thin and sticky, so I went back to the old pads. And I'm still looking for a better thermal pad because my m5550 still hot!!!

People stop. Problem with the thermal paste and pad is there a gap between heatsink and gpu. That what mess up my Laptop.

Let the guy try a pad then try a thermal paste like Artic silver. Tech would go there a problem with the motherboard or something else.

    On my M 5550M I had a 1/8 gap and I ran like a hot pocket.

No Mr. Moo The M5550 was faulty. I ran at 110c and would not exit sleep mode right.
