    Hey guys,

So I have an Alienware TactX headset that was given to me as some compensation for all the trouble my replacement laptops have caused me but I am having a weird issue, mainly that the mic does not work at all for the most part. I have to crank the mic boost all the way up and even then people complain that they can't hear me. Also aside from the volume issue when I plug the headset in if I am in a skype call, the mic will brodcast nothing but static and make everyone's ear bleed that is in the call.

Just curious if anyone else has had any similar issue? I am in the process of trying to get a replacement set but I have to wait for the last failed system to get back to Alienware before they will ship anything else out.

The mic is not very good. It doesn't seem to have enough sensitivity, or it's range is way too narrow. Mine works OK only if I put it directly in front of my mouth. Off to the side you end up having to use too much mic boost and get the same issues you described. I use it mainly as headphone rather than a headset.

Ah ok...seems pretty much par for the course then. I was hoping someone would say I was crazy the mic works great :p

I will probably still try to warranty them as one band does not stay up at all, it just falls down when I pick up the headset ( 2 weeks old ). Thanks for the reply :) appreciate it. I was really hoping I could just carry these around and leave my G930's at home but I guess I will pack 2 sets around heh.

I use a Bluetooth headset most of the time anyway because I hate having wires connected to a laptop. The TactX audio quality is really decent to my tired old headbanger's ears, but I am not an audiophile and can't ever be one due to wear and tear and occupational hazards as a young buck.

Mic has poor response for me as well. I got mine second hand cheap so I can't complain. Sound quality is good, a bit sharp on the treble at times but otherwise its pretty good.

I'm using the corsair 2100. Very good and comfortable headset. Very good microphone too.

I used to use my tactx headset and loved them, but now the mic doesnt work and the right ear doesnt work either... so I am using some steelseries wireless headphones.
