I noticed that every time I try adding an application to trigger a theme I created using the Alienware editor, it keeps crashing. All I do is click on the + button to add an application and it crashes. Any ideas on how to link an application to a theme to trigger it?

Is there an error displayed? If so, can you post it?
Thanks. -
^^
i think is this error:
-
1. Uninstall CC
2. Reboot and run the CC installer again.
See if that clears it. -
I know this sounds stupid, but every time I try downloading the CC application from the Dell Driver support area, it keeps me telling me that I have not added my driver selection to the list. So I add it to the list, but it keeps saying the same thing. I am in some sort of downloading loop on the Dell site. I don't really need the application support since that is the only thing giving me a bunch of runtime errors.
-
Been there done that. It took me a while to get out of that poop. Try clearing out your cookies for *.dell.com.
When it asked you how you're going to download it the first time it offered you two options: 1. to download with some dell download tool, and 2. like everyone normal with the browser. You accidentally selected 1. (like me) and now can't switch the download "mode".
BTW I tried looking for a way to switch that option back without cookies... bad move. Dell punished me with 20 more mins of time extra wasted (turned out the switch link didn't work lol). -
LOL - yeah. unreal has it down. that is exactly the approach to use for this little hiccup. clear the cookies and never select the download manager again.
-
Yep, that worked! Now I'll try Batboy's suggestion!
-
Well, I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, then the exact same error message.
-
Ok. Gman, is the error message the same as the one DJ posted? If not, please post it. Screencap the error dialog and then use the Go Advanced posting feature and attach the screencap using the paperclip icon.
Do you have CCleaner installed? If not, download it and view the Quick Tour if this is your first time using it.
Use this process to attempt a clean install of Command Center:
1. Uninstall CC.
2. Reboot into Safe Mode (repeatedly depress F8 at the BIOS/AlienHead Boot screen)
3. Once in Safe Mode, run CCleaner - choose the registry module and have it scan for any leftover/orphan entries. Choose Fix All. You can back up the changes if you want. I use CCleaner all of the time and have never encountered an issue as a result of its use.
4. Once complete, reboot normally.
5. At the desktop, run the installer for the current version of CC - it should be:
ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/app/R254581.exe
Release Date: 2/24/2010
Version: 2.5.43.0, A01
If that does not work, its going to be a call to tech support. -
Okay, thanks! I'll get a screen capture and post later today when I get back onto it. I know it's a full page of messages. I appreciate your solution, but was wondering if I just left that small part alone, the rest of the CC functionality works fine. I get no crashes during game play and my lights can be themed perfectly. So, what I am saying, if I just choose to leave it alone, it shouldn't affect the rest of my system, right? I am only asking this because I don't want to spend 3 hours on the phone with "Bob" from India telling me that I'll need to wipe out my HD and do a clean install. I am sure you have gone through the typical Dell experience. I may just try your suggestion once and if it works - great! If not, leave it alone?
-
Try the process I outlined and post back results.

Okay, here's the error:
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.

Also, I found someone on the Dell forums with the same problem as me; plus I haven't installed anything but Windows updates and games from Steam...
i got the Error also with the default delivered PC from Dell.
I couldn´t find anything that can cause the Error.
All is Fine - no Errors in Hardware Config or Software Config. All Progs are Up to Date.
All Progs (PC itself) running fine - exept this error.
When i bought the PC, i called the German Support from Dell in first January Week (Reporting this Failure and the Shutdown Problems) . They said the Error is known by Support (Word from Support: At this Time Nobody can add a APP). A Softwareupdate will fix it.
All Problems without the above error are fixed with CC A06 . Curious...
But i´m not alone with this Error. See the Post above. Seems to be the same Error with an english WIN7 Version.
.Don´t know what to do.

Ok - same error. I resolved this error (saw it on the M11x factory install) using the process I mentioned in my previous post.
