I'm getting fed up with Alienware not releasing the black option for the m15x & since I've started to like the Silver + the ship date has changed to 24th Apr I've decided I'm gonna order it tomorrow.

How reliable are the estimated ship dates which Alienware post, did your m15x get to you by the time it should of?

And how many of you are happy with Silver on the m15x?

I received my system nearly 3 weeks after the original ESD. Half of that delay was due to the hold on shipments caused by the issue with overheating of the 8800M GTX. My system arrived with the new BIOS installed.

I love the silver. It looks very slick and stylish. The only issue I have thus far is the 1/4" scratch directly below the alien head on the lid. I'm very disappointed that this slipped through QC; honestly, how do you miss such a scratch? My girlfriend and I noticed it as soon as we took it out of the sleeve! Still, considering all the things that could have been wrong with it (as others have reported), I'm thankful the scratch is the only workmanship defect.

i know you had to wait an extra 3 weeks for your laptop but if i was you and paid over £2000/$4000 for it i would send it straight back to AW.
im still waiting for mine which cost me $4000 so i will keep an eye out for any scratches.
as you said, how the hell did that get past QC or are they cutting corners now just to get as many systems out as soon as possible.

Don't worry. I'll be contacting AW this morning to give them a piece of my mind. Such a scratch is inexcusable for a $4000 system that took 39 days to assemble. I'm guessing they would have to install a new chassis, so I'm worried they would screw something else up to get rid of that 1/4" scratch. I might seek monetary compensation from them instead, and live with the scratch. We'll see.

I'm very happy I got the silver. I wanted the black too but I look at pictures and it looks super glossy so I would think that it would show every little scratch and finger print. I own a black car and its a pain to TRY to keep it clean. Plus think about this if you place your order and then the black comes out you can always call and have them change it. No charge if it hasn't been shipped only problem with that is it may cause another delay.

im actually very happy about AW releasing silver ripley since thats the color and case type i actually wanted. the only problem i have is with the Estimated Shipping date due to the battery. i dont want to cancel the battery not since if i do i will end up paying an extra 35 since i ordered the battery when it was 100 with the laptop. i ordered on 3/3 and it wont deliever until 4/28. i already held out this long so i guess ill just try to hold out a bit longer until i get the laptop.

I could be wrong on this, but besides word of mouth, they never promised a black one. Granted, it'll come out, but you can't really get mad if theres no release date on the website. I personally like the silver, and once I get more confirmation that the new units downt downclock or crack, I'll order mine. Hopefully before I leave on my trip on June.
