Well after spending much of the morning looking for answers, I have started a R&R for a M15x that was handed to me, with one broken hinge (left) and the other (right) dangling. I found some parts on ebay and they are on the way, I took it apart and cant believe they screwed the cpu to the top plate, but oh well.
I didnt take photo while I was taking it apart, but have since, and will post if you'd like to see them.
I would like to know from hrlaptoprepair.com on how they re-enforced the hinges, could be vital information and make others happy.
now if I can remember what screws went where....![]()
Thanks for posting all the info, couldnt have done it without it...

Hi bullfights,
I'm guessing they reinforced the hinges with epoxy. The more surface area that the hinges can hang onto, the better. However, with all glues and epoxies, you have to be careful to use one that doesn't discolor the plastic.
Thanks,

I'll post some more with the hinges next to them, in a bit...

wow just proves the terrible quality of the ye' old m15x

I wonder if that repair shop filled it in also...

Ps I just might send it back, the guy has more than 30 of these in stock, have him give me one with no cracks...yeah right -
I was actually thinking of filling mine with some kind of epoxy or similar like JB Weld in the red areas show here to help support and strengthen the hindge areas. God Bless

yeah I may have to do the same, will look for something to fill, that wont discolor the cover, there's enough "pockets" to fill to make it tougher

If it was me I would just run down to the local auto store and get some industrial strength super glue and fill in everything. It usually comes in clear.

i would also think about take those nuts out and putting industrial strength super glue under them just to further strength the hinge. if this is successful i might try it on my m15x too since its out of warranty anyways

I bought some Plastic epoxy from Walmart and used it when I did the repairs to my M15x Top panel. I filled all of the gaps surrounding the hinge plastic and also filled in the gaps around the two bottom mounts of the LCD since it uses the same hinge design. I also added electrical tape to the clips that attach the inside plastic frame to the top panel. It helped give it more support and the whole panel itself seems more sturdy now.
