    How's it going everyone,
I now have a new issue that I wasn't experiencing before. This doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes when the screen saver comes up, it locks the computer solid. Does anyone else have this problem? It seems to happen regardless of the AC plugged in or not. The computer isn't overheating or anything strange like that, and I don't get any blue screens. The computer just simply hits the screen saver and locks.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

P.S. - It has occured twice in Vista.

I'm simply tired of this thing and frustrated at level that nobody can even imagine......once a lemon, always a lemon. If this thing freezes one more time, I'm paying the restocking fee. It was bad enough that I was having trouble gaming with it......but now it freezes during normal use.....

Please.....freeze one more time and I'm done.....

Check the Event Viewer and see if anything got logged, that could help us figure out the source of the problem.

it sounds very fixable and a software issue. check for spyware and look into event viewer. try going into task manager when it does this as well.

are you within the 30 day return policy? if so i would return it and get something with an 8800m gtx card.

i had an m9750 as well. it was very nice looking and nice port layouts but it was not powerful enough for my games and sli was so finicky that i considered it a bonus instead of a requirement. i ended up paying the restocking fee as well.

The computer locks up solid. Ctrl-alt-del does nothing and you have to hard power it down. I checked the event viewer, and it has 32 ACPI errors among others. But there are no critical errors. The ACPI error reads as follows:

ACPI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal PCI Operation Region (0x4), Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

P.S. - Thanks for the help. I'm just to the point where I'm ready to drop it down a flight of stairs. I think I'm going to end up restoring it for the 8th time since I've unboxed it. Overall, I think I've spent more time trying to make it work than actually using it.

And by the way, I'm over my 30 day policy by 2 days.......it may just end up on Ebay....

Try a fresh install of Windows and a reinstallation all of the chipset drivers and etc...
    See if that works out.

Well, I gave another restore a shot. I installed all the drivers as normal, and then I restarted the computer. I waited for the screen saver to come up at the Vista login, and it locked up again. Why does this computer hate me so much

Do you have an external mouse installed when this happens?

I use a microsoft bluetooth mouse that connects to the internal bluetooth card without an adapter. This problem wasn't happening till recently.

I have heard about this happening in Vista with conflicting mouse drivers or conflicting video drivers. Is it possible the mouse is the problem? It has to be a software issue its just a matter of finding the one thats the problem.

If I were to take a wild stab in the dark, I'd have to say it's the 174.16 drivers from laptopvideo2go. I don't remember having this issue prior to using it. But then again, it could be an update that is now conflicting with my bluetooth mouse.

Either way.....once a lemon, always a lemon..... Ebay sounds better and better everyday.
