    Hello,

If somebody could help me solving this problem, I would be so grateful!

    The problem is:

When I turn on my M7700, fans doesn't work. That makes the laptop overheat and then stop. Then when it stops, all the fans begin to turn very fast to cool it.
The problem is more exactly at the graphic card level because when I try to detect the temperature at its level, the system tells me that it's 0 degrees, so that's why the fans doesn't turn on on time.

Since Alienware stopped repairing those models, I tried to do it myself. I tried to link the GPU fan to a USB port to make it turn all the time the laptop is on...but it didn't work: when the GPU fan is disconnected from its original port, the CPU fan doesn't turn on...

So my final solution is to buy a new GPU. Do you think it will solve my problem? Or can it comes from the motherboard?

Thanks in advance for everyone who would try to help me...

A new graphics card will not fix this problem
The fans are controlled by surface mount fan controllers on the motherboard.
For the processors, they are right next to the processor fan power connectors. They are two small rectangles, which output from 3.4V to 5.1V of power.

The memory bay fan has likewise the same fan controller
The graphics card does as well. The fan on the graphics card plugs into the motherboard, not the graphics module. A new graphics card will not fix your fan problems.
What you can do, is this
    1) check all of the connectors and be sure they are connected - if necessary use a fine pointed object to push each wire all of the way into the socket
    2) if that fails grab a digital multimeter and access the fan controllers. Turn the system on and press FN+F2, you should get 5.05 to 5.10V out of any of the fan controllers. If you do not, than your fan controllers need to be replaced. They can be bought on Mouser/DigiKey for about $0.50 a piece

I had to replace mine, as mine had a very similar problem.

As much as I hate my D900K I am still here for support

If you are interested, I have a dead D900K board in my for sale thread, all I request is you pay shipping - It has working fan controller chips on it.

    Wow!

K-TRON, what can I say...YOU ARE THE BEST! I never thought I would have so much support from somebody. I was really desperate...

You have a dead D900K board? It could be the final solution to it, finally! I searched all over the internet I was never able to find one. So if I would like to take it, I just have to pay you the shipment? If yes, for sure, I would be ready to pay you immediately and by wire transfer if you accept.

Your offer is the only solution for me from where I am!

You have a PM on the details of my motherboard.
I would advise actually checking your fan controllers with a meter to see if they work
