i can't get the HDMI to work with a HDTV LCD. i'm not in stealth mode, and i am using the 8800m GTX. when i connect it, i hear the windows connection sound. and sound transfers but i don't see anything, it is completely black on both the laptop screen and the HDTV. any idea what's going on?

Try Fn+F6. Also, try with another HDMI TV if you have one

Also just a tip make sure you are plugging the computer into the correct hdmi slot on the tv, some tv's have two and one is meant for pc's the other for everything else it seems like. Also is the checkmark for extend monitor checked in your display settings.

Well, seams like it's something with the laptop. If it's not driver problems then I don't know what

It's your HDMI cable. If you spent $3 on it, now you know why it only cost $3.

its not. my M17x works on both TVs. same cable same HDMI-in port. i got the rocketfish HDMI cable. My TV is hooked up to 4 HDMI cables. i tried the all and all in different ports. it doesn't work so it has to be a hardware issue. my M17x works with any conbination of HDMI cables and HDMI-in ports.
