yeah, if anyone was really really curious about solving this, they could get their own reading, which would probably be different from all the others ;)

grb, don't want to go back and forth on this anymore, i just want an answer from AW to my original question regarding the m15x 8800m gtx gpu running consistently 20 deg C hotter than the same gpu in other notebooks?

That's fine; I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I just think you're barking up the wrong tree at this point, personally. But, as I said earlier, I do hope AW does answer the question to your satisfaction so you can put to rest any fears you have.

AW:Steve/Frank, please PM me or reply to my emails. I've emailed you twice over the last week (4/23 & 4/28) and have not received a response.

Just talked to aw:cs and apparently my system is not getting repaired? This is infuriating.

    @Alienware-Steve

Many people are still confused if there will be a black / skullcap version of M15x or m17x or not. Maybee you can give a statement to us. I dont like the AW surprise strategy, its really annoying. Thank you :)

thank you. as i mentioned before i don't want to get another system and i really want to like my m15x... it's just been more than 2 months since i ordered it and still no working system. With AW customer service reps not helping and still having problems and now telling me that they don't have parts to test my system, my patience is waning.

Weeks of repairing and sending it back and forth... i'm paying $4700+ to spend hours fixing a broken system and weeks waiting to receive a practically used machine in the end. That's just wrong.

I have purchased many laptops in the past and any other company would've replaced it with a new one instead of stringing me along this far.

thank you for looking into it.

Hopefully this information is not a NDA (Non-disclosure agreement). Then AW-Steve can tell us what's up.

we updated the bios. the bios increases the fan speeds when the gpu gets to a certain temperature.

EDIT: you should not use this bios in your sager though... if you are having problems you should call sager customer service and see what they can do for you.

    Hello all,

I'm new in this forum and as I'm looking for a new laptop so I'm trying to do my homework before put down my order ...

To be honest, I do think the M15x / M17x really looks good and do answered to all my demands and needs but, after reading all of the posts in this forum, with all complains in here so I'm wondering if it is a wise choice of buying this machine ?!?

Anyway, before I put down my order (for the M17x), I would like to have some feed backs from those who have reported complains about their systems and also I would like to know what kind of services do you get from AW:CS ? As this system is not cheap so I would like to know do you still think the system in general (laptop + services after sale) is really worth for the price you paid for, basing on all the troubles that you have encountered (laptop doesn't work/cracking, bad CS, long delay of shipping or repairing, etc ...)?

    Best regards,
    JTJK

regarding the laptop. the build quality is a bit lower of whats expected on a 3000 laptop. most people think the plastic is cheap but i still think its made with a high quality plastic. its one of the fastest laptops on the market so the performance is definitely top notch. they are able to ship your laptop out faster than when they first released the laptop. i remember i had to wait a month and a half but you should be able to get yours in around 2 - 3 weeks. the m15x is a really good laptop as long as you dont get a lemon.

i think cs is very good as long as you call roswell. do not call regular customer service. you should use roswell exclusively.

yeah, it would downclock because it would reach a certain temp and then clock as to not fry itself.

make sure the vents (more important than fans) are clean from dust by using a flashlight to check.

Remember to monitor the temps (Rivatuner is best for in-game monitoring) to see if its downclocking at a particular temp and then remember to use the Fan Toggle (Fn+1 for that notebook) to switch all fans to max speed while gaming.

You are right there is a new 500 GB 7200 RPM 2.5" by Seagate but it is expected in Q4 2008. It is the Momentus 7200.4 .
