Hi there, I just have a question for u guys.. I'm currently using zfactor's BIOS and wish to use back the original BIOS from Alienware. The question is how? Do I just flash it as usual or do I need to do any special thing since I'm downgrading the BIOS ? Please help.

Not sure what the zfactors BIOS replacement is all about or what it does, but maybe this will answer your question, http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=230061 This is what it said on that forum "i am here guys i hope zfactor unlock the m17x bios too. ... Hopefully our new modded bios will be released soon and we'll be hitting 4Ghz. ..."

Download the B14 (or a different AW BIOS if you prefer) and burn the ISO file to disk.

Reboot, go to the BIOS, change the boot order to load from CD/DVD first, and basically flash from the disk.

Or you can flash from USB drive, but I'm not too sure on the method for that. I prefer DVD.

But basically, yeah, it's just a normal flash.

Well done jared_good, you have not only triple posted, but completely failed to answer the question that the original poster asked.

Please, firstly, read the whole bloody question before you try and answer it, secondly, please learn how to use a forum.

So anyways, what is the zfactors BIOS? What does it do? Better than the stock BIOS? Please explain.

So when I get my M17x-R2 on the 23rd, should I flash my BIOS using the zfactors BIOS? Or use the stock. I guess I need more information. Cant the stock bios let you overclock the 920xm? What other benefits are there to using the zfactor bios besides overclocking? Are there any drawbacks or problems to using the zfactors bios? Is this a custom bios created specifically for the M17x-R2?

This is the wrong thread jared_good.

This is about the M17-R1, not to be mistaken with the M17x-R1 & M17x-R2.

DO NOT flash your M17x-R2 bios with the 0.29 OCZ bios or you will completely DESTROY your machine.

These are 2 DIFFERENT laptops :).
